I always said wolves are the best third team for a trade but that's a lot for Gasol. Gasol would be very good but we lost a lot. I cou;d see the trigger getting pulled though.

Beasley barea that important to you guys? That's a pretty fair trade far across. Pekovic would be a damn good center off the bench.

Here is one trade that wouldn't be so bad...:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=83m6qgh
Wolves out: Williams, Ridnour, Milicic, Miller
Wolves in: Gasol

Wolves don't give up too much to snag Gasol who would probably be the difference between making the playoffs or not.

Rubio/Barea
Webster/Ellington/Lee
Johnson/Beasley
Love/Gasol/Tolliver
Pekovic/Gasol/Randolph

Magic out: Howard, Anderson, Turkoglu
Magic in: Bynum, Williams, LAL 1st, DAL 1st

Magic nab Bynum & Williams for Howard plus they dump Turkoglu in the process. Not bad for a player who could walk. Much better than a Toronto/Cleveland situation.

Nelson/Duhon
Reddick/Richardson
Richardson(s)
Williams/Davis
Bynum/Orton

Lakers out: Bynum, Gasol, DAL 1st, LAL 1st
Lakers in: Howard, Anderson, Ridnour, Milicic, Miller, Turkoglu

Lakers get Howard but also some supporting pieces like Anderson/Ridnour who complement him well as well as a back-up big and an upgrade at SF (even though his contract is bad).

Ridnour/Fisher
Bryant/Goudelock
Turkoglu/Barnes/World Peace
Anderson/McRoberts
Howard/Milicic

I think that most Timberwolves fans would be incredibly disappointed with a deal like this for Gasol. More than anything, if we are going to move all of those pieces, lets get a 2 guard. Pek and Love are looking nice inside over the past month and at least deserve some time after the break to see if they can keep it going.

I'd be so bummed.

It doesn't really bother me. I think it makes us a lot better this year and next.

Right now we have Williams as a 4, Love as a 4/5, and Pek as a 5.

After the trade we would have Love as a 4, Gasol as a 4/5, and Pek as a 5.

The difference being Gasol is a lot better than Williams but costs a lot more. We'd have the best frontcourt in the NBA, which in itself, should make us a very dangerous team in the playoffs.

I could care less about giving up Barea and Beasely. I see Beasley as gone next year and Barea as a negative contract.

We would still have Webter + Miller contracts as assets next year a long with our future picks (and maybe we'd got another one in this trade).

All that said, I think Orlando gets one hell of a deal for Howard here and I think the Lakers probably say no before the T-Wolves do.

I fixed that for you.

Its not about being fair, its about balance. Our team very very obviously needs guards/wings. This trade not only makes that need even worse, but it trades our young potential filled rookie forward for an aging bigman with a MASSIVE contract and some questions about his toughness to bolster a position that we have absolutely no need for.

Agreed. That is waaaay too much for Gasol.

I still don't want to give up on Williams. And we need a veteran leader like Barea on this team. I know Gasol would be a vet, but he's nowhere near the leader that Barea is.

Williams/Beasley/Barea all for just Gasol is way too much IMO.

Magic would make out very nicely in this trade. That'd go down as one of the best trades for a superstar in NBA history as far as what they're getting in return. They're trading the best center in the league for the 2nd best center, who is without doubt a better offensive player than Howard, and a player with the potential to be an All Star. Williams/Bynum would be great for Orlando.

Another reason why I don't like it, which was touched on by others, is that we're trading our BEST trade asset in Williams, but we don't get a SG in return. And with only Gasol coming back, we'd basically be giving up on getting a decent SG in any way other than draft/FA (and we all know good FAs don't come here).

I don't like it.

I'm all for this trade if we can get Reddick in addition to Gasol, I think it puts us in the top 4 in the west. I woul rather use the same assets to get Ellis and Wright from Golden State, I think we would have a legitimate chance at winning the west.

It doesn't look like Reddick is in the deal according to the article unless I missed it. This deal as is solves everyones problems but ours. Lakers get their man AND a PG who can shoot and run. The Magic stay competitive and get young talent... we get an over-priced aging vet at a position we don't need.

Gasol brings alot to this team, but Reddick needs to be in this trade, its fills a need and makes us a contender
