Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread
It is funny how deep we get into the stats of a team that completely blows. I remember one time a guy on a message board (for fun) wrote a spreadsheet to simulate the lottery which is a lot more complex than it sounds. The probabilities change after each pick is made depending on who gets the pick.
this guy had a PHD in engineering and he was trying to explain it to the rest of us. I gave up quickly lol.
The assist discussion just seems like a lot of work to tell us something we already knew.

Uh, I did that.

ROFL!
Also, sorry for being defensive in my wording yesterday, Zonker. I was being short with everyone in RL too, and there was no reason for it. XD

Pretty impressive. John Wall has improved in every major statistical category in each of the first three months of the season:

His scoring average, assist average, FG%, FT%, FTA/g, have gotten better each month. The only dropoff has been a slight one in rebounds.

Total on the season and still strongly trending up:
16.9Pt .425 FG% 7.8AST 5.1Reb 18.02PER
LAst 10 games
.496 FG% 20.5 Pt 4.5Reb 9.6 Ast
Those are All Star numbers.
If we add two shooters this year, perhaps Barnes and Anderson, Wall will be good for 20/10/5 next year.

After tonight's performance, he's at 17.3ppg on the season. And it's only going to go up the rest of the year.

SO i guess in the end it won't be a disappointing season from Wall after all. Vastly improved defense and improved jumper. Looking good for 18+/8/5 end of season averages.
But the team results have been very disappointing.

Only goes to highlight the value of McGee and Nick.
If Wall is playing that well and they have Booker who is a beast, then you would think if you have a stud SG and C, they should be winning.
Something both Nick and McGee need to realize when they are valuing themselves. If they were both as good as they should be, the Wiz would be winning.
That said, I am not as down on McGee as I am on Nick. McGee is still an amazing prospect given his age, size and skills. But it should not have taken him so long to execute more basketball basics.

So anyone think Wall should be working more on a post up game ? Like Kid does.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread
He needs to put in time on his set three pointers, shooting off the dribble, and general handles first. Those are way, way more important than a post game. That can wait a year or two.

You're right. Now shooting .429, with a PER of 18.35. If Wall continues on the pace he's been on for the last 25 games, his sophomore campaign is going to look better than that of Westbrook, and possibly Rose, who will have scored more, but not been better in any other area, including PER. Rose posted a sophomore PER of 18.69. If Wall continues this pace, he may break 20.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread
Anyone else notice a lot more body control displayed by Wall since the All-Star break? He is not crashing to the hoop anymore, he is contorting his body in the air for finishes...

He busted out some tight spin moves versus Orlando, who remembers the nifty dribbling against the Cavs before a pass to Vesely? I can't find that online anywhere.
I hope some fan is keeping up with some of these individual Wall highlights that get scraped over and do not necessarily make the Top 10 Plays, for a culmination highlight tape at the end of the season.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread
He seems to be working on his game every night, which is great. Tonight I saw a LOT of hesitation moves. Not all of them were good ones, or effective... but that's because he's learning on the job. It's cool to watch.

He should be taking the most shots every game since he is the best scorer.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread
I was wrong.
At the same time the light came on for Wall about a week or two after Flip was fired. I wonder if Wall would have struggled so much if he weren't thrown into a coach whose system and style didn't match his strengths; and with a coach whose demeanor wasn't the right one to get the best of John Wall.
Wall under Wittman vs Wall under Saunders is dramatically different. I'm really quiet because it's like I can't tell what Wall will figure out next. This is exciting to me because I just didn't see this coming at all.
The things I HATED about Wall in the past (while Flip was coaching) were John Wall seemed to lack competitiveness, leadership ability, and most of all heart. The times he would sulk, shut out teammates, not put great energy on the defensive end, and demonstrate bad body language--I concluded (wrongly) that the guy just wasn't as good as advertised. Flip played him big minutes and seemed to never change anything for the betterment of Wall or the team. Now, I wonder how much the coaching emphasis had to do with Wall?
Things have changed since January 23, 2012, the day Flip was fired. He now has plenty of professional pride, heart and IMO John Wall has really bounced back as a competitor. I believe perhaps Wall just needed a change and some confidence. Firing Flip has to be part of what has helped John Wall and running pick and roll has, too. I wonder if Blatche off the court the past weeks helped him as well? Booker runs hard. Vesely finishes and moves without the ball. Crawford with Wall seems better than Nick, except when Nick is en fuego. But when Jordan is en fuego it is better with Wall. Changes all seem to be benefitting Wall's game.
None of this takes away from the simple fact that John Wall is better and he is improving at a good rate. I have no problem saying I was wrong. I just think if Saunders were still here I doubt Wall would have changed nearly this much.

Sorry. I guess I should have made that green. Didnt someone start a new thread just to say that ?
Anyway. Wall is balln a lot better. He has found confidence in his J and he is starting to find a couple moves to set it up. I have seen him do one move several times. He is at the top of the key. He does a fake and crossover and then takes the J from the right side of the FTL. And he is driving better, changing speed and finding perimeter shooter in Crawford, Mo and Mason.
Wall is getting better, but he has a ways to go until he gets his PER and AFG up. 0.43 is a little low. Studs are in the .50 range.
But from what I can see, he seems to have arrived and he is settling down. He doesnt look frustrated anymore. He isnt forcing things like he was. It seems to be coming together for him. And I like the way he and Crawford are playing together. It is a now a lot more clear what the offense is. Its Wall and Crawford with Singleton, Mo or Mason spotting up, Booker posting and garage pts with a few set shots and McGee ally opps, a few hooks, one 10 footer a game and a few WTF attempts.
Randy seems to be putting together the pieces and the individual rolls. I get the sense he wants Singleton to be more offensive minded and will live with a few misses if he is. Other then that, without Nick starting ( or even playing ), the team seems to be excepting their roles better.
