Overdue.

Ironically I didn't expect this to happen until summer though.

I think it was premature and they shouldve just waited it out for the rest of the season to can him if need be.

Who is the replacement coach? Carlyle (fired by the Ducks) is said to be the new one. I'm not sure about that but I guess there isn't anyone else available

Unless the team makes the playoffs I guess firing Wilson makes sense, but if they don't it seems like a nonsensical move by Burke to salvage something that wasn't there.

Either way Wilson wore out his welcome and everyone was sick of this team's special teams blowing ass. I hated the fact that early on in the season he kept throwing his players under the bus only to claim the opposite later on like a hypocrite

Why wouldn't they fire him after the season though?

Still in the playoff race I guess. The fans have been booing Wilson relentlessly in the last couple home games though

Also, I would have given Eakens a crack. Carlyle already has a beef with Lupul.

Why would they wait?

At least now there's a chance for a push with a new coach.

Eakins is too inexperienced and young for the role right now. He would have gotten eaten alive in this market. While I'm weary of the relationship Carlysle has with Lupul, I'm sure they'll clear the air, and perhaps Burke might have even spoken to Lupul personally before hiring Randy behind closed doors.

In any case, great news, Carlylse brings a winning pedigree, always thought he was one of the best coaches in the league before he got fired.

*shakes head*.

We just lost Dallas Eakins, I hope Burke realizes that. They just signed Carlysle for this year, and 3 more seasons.

Had this taken place earlier in the season, I'd agree that Eakins would be in over his head (like the Montreal situation with Muller). However, there's a handfull of games left, and he's shown his stripes in the minors. He was the logical choice, but Burke hired his buddy. He's an upgrade over Wilson, and I hope he proves me wrong, but there were better choices out there.

Per TSN Radio, Insider Dave Feschuk who is currently with the team is saying that he talked to Lupul and he is really pissed off about having Randy as his Coach again.

I'm more concerned about losing Lupul than losing Eakins as a potential coach. Eakins is simply not ready for this assignment, sure he may have grew with the team but you don't pass up on a coach of the calibre of Carlisle. The years are irrelevant, if he doesn't do well here, he will get canned before his contract ends, just like Wilson. I don't forsee that happening however.

I assumed Burke did his due dilligence with Lupul before the signing however. Or at least spoken to him, which is why I'm weary of the Feschuck comments.

All 4 years hes been here the goaltending has been bottom 4 in the league. It doesnt matter if you had Scotty Bowman as your coach this team was always going to suck.
