Sessions got the start tonight... 16 points, 7 assists, 7-14, 2-4, 30 min...

obviously lost going up against the Bulls.. but he could put up those type of numbers every night as a full time starter

The trade deadline is in 2 weeks right? It wouldn't make sense for us to accept a trade at this moment of time. Maybe we could trade Luke and a first for Beasley or Sessions?

Yeah I think it's just all negotiations. Like you said, there's 2 weeks left. Kahn or whoever is looking to deal Beasley is looking at other options and will weigh in on those options. Just because a deal is rejected at the moment, it doesn't mean it can't be revisited again... unless David Stern is behind it.

Lakers see that a first round pick will not cost what some of these other players will cost. First year money is cheaper than 3rd or 4th year money. Plus being in the 20's is even cheaper than former lottery player money.

I do not like this theroy of going cheap. But unless the team wins. The money is not there. So we need to start to rebuild with younger players. Just not sure a low #1 will be the best way.

He's the worst defensive point guard in the NBA. We'll be trying to defend against point guards like Westbrook or maybe Derrick Rose and with Sessions out there we may as well be playing with four guys on defense.

I agree it will be so "sick" that you'll be watching other teams play in the conference finals and NBA finals because the Lakers won't be there with that team.

Im starting to think maybe its better to not trade for an SF like Beasley and instead concentrate on improving the backcourt Sessions is nice but he's not a very good shooter the guy ive always liked is Mayo I dont know how well he can play PG he is a combo guard tho but if he can play the PG like Fisher does he could be a good pickup maybe for the TPE or a pick and McRoberts. I think the Lakers can survive with Artest and Barnes at SF for the remainder of the season.

If Arenas is in his 2009-2010 mode where he was a solid player he'd be a big improvement as a legitimately sized 6-4 guard that can play both spots, create, and shoot. He's the guy I think the Lakers go with, saving their picks and even their TPE for a possible addition over the summer (perhaps as a RFA). That would be the time when S and T for Beasley would be more prudent.

Like Fish and Blake are the second coming of Gary Payton.

Truth. We need better passing and some more consistent offense. Of course there are better options out there but no doubt Sessions would be an improvement over what we have now. Besides, who can really defend Westbrook or Rose? Realistically we aren't going to be able to get anyone of that caliber anyway.

Found out today that the Beasley deal was struck down because Kahn thought Mitch was Boo-boo the fool. They wanted both 1st rounders........damn talk about disrespect.

The biggest improvement the Lakers can make for the rest of the year is Gilbert Arenas (budget). If he can play like he played in 09-10 he'll be solid for them and that's all they can feasibly get.

Kupchak has already said that Arenas didn't pass the smell test during his workout for the Lakers so end of story.

A player worth trading a number one pick for would be Milwaukee's Erdan Ilyasova.

This 6-10, 240 lb PF has absolutely been playing out of his mind in the last 5 weeks averaging a double double near 20 / 10 for gthe Bucks.

This turkish kid is only 24 years old. He's sitting on an expiring $2.5M contract and looking to play in a large city market next year.

The Lakers could have him right now for a song from a Milwaukee team going nowhere. And he's not close to being the head case risk that Michael Beasley is. In fact, if the team is planning to move Gasol, Ilyasova would be that much more valuable to the Lakers.

Anyway, just one of several much, much, better alternatives if we're going to trade the number one pick and use the TPE than Beasely or Sessions.

Not sure what the Bucks are looking for in exchange, but I absolutely agree.

I spent a decent amount of time the other day playing with the Trade Machine, figuring out a Gasol trade that would net Jennings and Illyasova

what do we do with a PF? play him 10 minutes once playoff starts?

we need a PG and a SF. No reason to waste our minimum assets int acquiring a guy that will play limited minutes off the bench.

if we can't improve 1 and 3 or if the team doesn't want to spend more lux. money then we better keep the picks and try to draft a good pg and a good SF

No Drew! The Lakers should move Gasol in a trade for a younger, more affordable, more athletic star caliber point guard (Kyle Lowry or Rondo) so that Mike Brown can implement his style offense with players capable of running it.

Gasol will be 32 years old this summer. He's costing the franchise $20M a year for two more years after this one and he will never have the same market value again that he had last year or the year before.

If he was 25 - 28 years old right now, like he was when we acquired him, that would be a different story, but he's not and he's eating up too much cap based on the performance level he's giving us in return and will be given us next year and the year after.

Holding onto him is nuts unless there are no other deals out there that allow us to improve our hand.

Once we move Pau in a trade for a great PG, then we turnaround and acquire a younger, more affordable PF to replace Gasol like Iliasova or possibly even Paul Milsap who could be available due to Utah being top heavy with young players at the 4 and 5 needing more minutes to develop; and we use the draft picks and the TPE to facilitate the deal.

We end up with a great point guard, an outstanding replacement for Pau at PF hopefully, and we also just as importantly, lower our cost structure moving forward, make the team younger and more athletic except for Kobe and MWP. Meanwhile we give ourselves a chance to make a run at a championship this year still.

I don't see the SF being nearly as critical right now. Between Barnes and MWP we're getting satisfactory performance right now. If we could find a taker for Meta's contract maybe, but he's coming around a little bit in terms of his play.

I do think we need to find a combo guard to give Kobe more minutes of rest and of course it would great to have a more adequate backup for Bynum especially once Gasol departs.

Possibly those pieces can come as part of a trade for Gasol. Especially if it's Houston who has some other assets like Courtney Lee.

My 2 cents
