Maybe the plan is really to fire Edsall if he mucks things up and makes kids want to transfer again.

Ok Nostradamus. Randy Edsall loves Randy Edsall and that's something we all can agree on. To say UMD football won't succeed because of he's stuck on himself and his principles is unfair. I like this video here.

He needs to get out of the way and let the fertile lands provide for the program. If he doesn't he'll be gone soon but I think he will and the program will take off.

MF, I could give a rat's arse about his personality. And I'll take a coach over a recruiter 99 times out of 100. It was pretty obvious to anyone who can tell a football from a lobotomy that Edsall can't coach at this level.

I hope Edsall doesn't ruin more kids' dreams of having a good football career or at least NCAA success. I think Edsall got too much credit for a U Conn team that only beat a sorry Notre Dame team and no one else. I hate the way the Terps fired Friedgen and how Edsall came in and demoted Danny O'Brien.

I will be shocked if Edsall wins any more than 5 games in the next 2-3 years, if he lasts that long.

Terps' Danny O'Brien, 2 others to transfer

Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien, offensive lineman Max Garcia, and linebacker Mario Rowson requested and were granted their releases from the football program, the school announced on Monday.

“I’m disappointed by Danny’s decision,” coach Randy Edsall said in a prepared statement. “Danny told me that he’s not committed to our program, that he’s not ‘all in.’ I want what’s best for all of our players. Danny wants a fresh start elsewhere. I wish him well.”

Garcia, a sophomore, started all 12 games at left tackle in 2011. He played in just two games as a true freshman in 2010.

“Max showed great promise,” Edsall said. “But after two seasons in College Park, Max is still homesick. He wants to transfer to a school closer to home (Norcross, Ga.) so his family can see him play.”

Rowson played in 11 games, including four starts, as a redshirt freshman in 2011. He posted 27 tackles, including three tackles for loss and one sack.

“Mario wants to play defensive back. Trouble is, we see Mario as a linebacker,” Edsall said. “I wish Mario well, where ever he decides to play.”

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Danny O'Brian is officially transferring. Edsall was quoted saying he's leaving. C-ya, I'm fine with this as I always felt he was overrated. It's not like O'Brien ever beat a top rated defense and I'd always watch him miss wide open receivers. Every game he'd miss progressions especially in the red zone. I'm more worried over DJ Adams departure as he always produced and was literally treated like an outsider when Edsall spoke about him publically. Edsall's public comments give reason to players revolting against him. Saying their not talented enough or calling them "the player" during media sessions shows no self awareness.

He needs to let his good coordinators do their jobs, calm his ego and show some respect in public. Too bad about Max Garcia. He could actually play OT in the NFL. Whew I hope the coordinators can save the Terps.

Edsall reportedly would not release O'Brien to play for James Franklin at Vanderbilt.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ter ... _blog.html

O’Brien did request and was granted his release from Maryland. One stipulation: Maryland Coach Randy Edsall did not give O’Brien his release to transfer to Vanderbilt, according to an individual familiar with the discussion between O’Brien and Edsall. The head coach at Vanderbilt, of course, is James Franklin, the former offensive coordinator/head-coach-in-waiting at Maryland.

You've got to be kidding. O'Brian was the freaking freshman of the year in the ACC. Maybe he wasn't a great pro prospect, but it was obvious he's a quality college starting QB. Edsall ruined the kid here, and then has the nerve to say he's disappointed in his decision - and actually blocked him from going to another school. Edsall is an ass as well a joke of a coach.

Stefon Diggs is in the news and not for a good reason. His tweet is now the talk in the media.

Top Maryland football recruit offers up incredibly offensive Jeremy Lin tweet

I wondered about his judgment for picking the Terps, when he could have attended anywhere. Now, I think I might be seeing a pattern. Why do you put that out there?

That is going to haunt him and no doubt be the first thing reporters want him to talk about at UMCP. It will also give him some haters right from the jump. Not that the words didn't come straight from Stefon Diggs' tweet.

In Turgeon's first recruiting class, he's "Clearly" showing he wants more beef. He's just added Charles Mitchell (6'7 250) http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ter ... _blog.html and Damonte Dodd (6'9 240) to a class that already included Shaq Clear (6'9 280?) - as well as 6'9 (but thin... and good) swingman Jake Lyman and 6'2 (?) combo guard Seth Allen. It sounds like Dodd might be the most athletic of the bunch - but an under the radar type who might get red-shirted.

This is Turgeon putting his mark on the team. Gary Williams went more for athleticism; Turgeon goes more for power and skills.

Btw, nice win for the Terps today. Do it again tomorrow.

Good news, and another sign that Turgeon is going to turn it around.

I didn't see today's win. I read days back Stoglin was disappointed being only 2nd team All-ACC. Read that he had a big game and led the win. Also, Faust had a career-high 19 points and only 1 turnover.

Tomorrow's game is against UNC.

Is Terrell Stoglin a future NBA'er?

Barnaby Jones, this just came out yesterday:

http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2012-0 ... -prospects

Stoglin will weigh options, but expects to stay with Terps

Most mock NBA drafts don't mention Stoglin as possible pick

March 07, 2012|By Jeff Barker, The Baltimore Sun

COLLEGE PARK — — Sophomore Terrell Stoglin, the Atlantic Coast Conference's leading scorer, hasn't finalized his decision to return to Maryland next season, and his father said the family would at least look at NBA draft options.

......

Maryland officials have said they believed — based on what Stoglin has indicated during the season — that he would return to Maryland to continue to work on his game. While Stoglin is a versatile scorer, the player's NBA prospects could be enhanced by honing and showcasing the passing and game-management skills that would be expected of someone his size.

Right now I'd say he will have a nice career professionally overseas.

Stoglin is strictly a SG. He will need to vastly improve his playmaking and cut down his turnovers to have any shot at sticking in the NBA IMO. He can score, but what else can he do and how efficiently can he play? Terrell Stoglin should work on his strength and conditioning, and he should study a lot of tape and learn how to pass out of double teams to greatly reduce his turnovers. He also should accept that he's only going to make it as a scoring point--his assists are going to probably have to be three times as much.

I don't think he's going to make that big of a transition, but I could be wrong.

The single best thing Stoglin can do is what he did today: help the Terps win games. Positive media recognition could get Stoglin drafted after next season if they win games and he cleans up his game.

Georgia PF Charles Mitchell commits to Maryland

Charles Mitchell, a 6-foot-7 post prospect out of Marietta, Ga., has committed to play at Maryland next season, he announced Thursday on Twitter.

Scout.com lists Mitchell as a three-star prospect and the No. 27-ranked senior center in the country. “A load to handle in the paint, Mitchell is an undersized post prospect that plays with energy and effort,” Scout.com said in its profile of Mitchell. “When he gets touches he immediately looks to attack. He has a good set of hands, nice touch on the block and can face up for mid-range jump shots. The 6-foot-7 big man uses his wide frame to carve out space and rebounds his area well.”

Rivals.com has Mitchell as a four-star prospect, No. 76 nationally and No. 12 at his position.

The addition of Mitchell bolsters an already strong recruiting class for Coach Mark Turgeon, especially down low. Elite recruits Shaq Cleare, whom Eric Prisbell profiled in January, and Jake Layman are headed to College Park next season.

Great post. There just isn't much of an NBA market for 6' shooting guards.

I think he and Turgeon have a love/hate relationship. Turgeon can be very tough on his players if they don't fit his mold - and he's a believer in defense and teamwork. Stoglin is a great 1 on 1 offensive player who has a lot of problems playing defense - so clashes were inevitable. Still, I think Turgeon knows Stoglin is an asset. You need a player who can score when the offense breaks down - and with the PG problems the Terps have, it breaks down quite a lot. Turgeon will continute to try to mold Stoglin into his kind of player, and hopefully Stoglin will not fight it.

This team is so incredibly frustrating. We get a 16pt lead down to 6 with a huge run. We get a big stop. What do we do? You'd think we'd run a screen play for our best offensive player (Stoglin), right? Nah, let's post up Padget.

Padget gets doubled and turns it over, Barnes comes down and converts an and-1.

Terrible.

Also, Alex Len is about as soft as they come -- both mentally and physically. He just crumbles if things aren't going his way. And I don't know if I've ever seen worse body language from an athlete before.

The fact that he was even contemplating thinking about the possibility of potentially entering the NBA Draft is the definition of insanity.
