In all fairness, are you more aware of what shoes Carmelo wears now as opposed to when he was in Denver?

That's more of an adidas thing. The only pair of adidad shoes i can readily identify are the Crazy 8s. has nothing to do with Rose or Dwight. I just don't think their marketing is effective. This Ken Jeong commercials never made a mark on me, I guess.

I don't own a pair of basketball shoes, nor have I been in an athletic shoe store in years so I'm not the person to ask that. I just know sales and marketing, and NY sells domestically and internationally

You may not know shoes, but you have eyes. With athletes success is what matters. How many Lebron jerseys have you seen compared to total Knick and Nets jerseys? How many times has a New York athlete hosted SNL compared to Manning, Brady, Lebron, and Phelps? I think Jeter may have hosted once 10 years ago. How many New York guys have been on the cover of a video game? You think EA is throwing money away by not putting the Sanchize on the cover? New York somehow got this reputation as an advertising Mecca, but it's just not true.

I think the only way something goes down is we somehow land a deal like Denver got with young talent and lots of picks. It seems like RDV feels that we have the best shot at a title in his lifetime this year with dwight as opposed to any of the trade deals out there. That along with the even 10% chance that we could keep him it makes the most sense to keep him.

Jeter makes a killing off of endorsements. NYC is an advertising Mecca, but you have to be a winner for it to be relevant. Linsanity wouldn't have been such a big deal if it happened in Milwaukee. You give addidas the opportunity to put a superstar in the New York market I promise you they will throw big $ to make that happen. Not $400 million, but big money non the less

This kind of stuff us complete bull. No shoe company should have that much control of where a player goes, but that's the world we live in.

I always figured he was going to NJ because he had under the table deals with Prokhorov. I never figured they would double Rose's shoe contract.

If true it really is a no brainer to sign there, and that extra year in Orlando is not that big of a deal.

If it's true.

The last time I checked $400Million is more than $30Million on that longer guaranteed contract. Hell, after making $400 Million on a shoe deal, why even sign the next deal? Just retire and sepnd your time drinking Mojito's and counting your money.

At this point, I think the truth is no one knows what is going to happen, so they keep writing anything and everything in an attempt to look like they are in the know.

The article this morning could easily be interpreted as 'if you're going to call, get your best offer ready.'
Or, it could have been 'up the offers, stir the pot.' Or even 'we're not moving him for crap.'

Then there's Dwight talking about staying articles, his mother's comments, maybe he won't opt out, etcetera.

Finally there's the 'will they just let him walk' articles.

At the end of the day, in six days we'll know one thing: whether or not he gets dealt before the deadline. Other than that, everything else wills till be fair game. If he isn't traded, the speculation and articles will continue, only this time they will shift from 'will the Magic trade Dwight,' to 'will the Magic be able to resign Dwight.'

So the only thing that ends the short term pain is a trade (either of Dwight or for a sidekick) - otherwise the speculation will drag on into the summer.

At least the Dwight wants to stay articles have actual sources like his mother or anyone in the Magic organization like Martins or Devos.

Seems like not a single actual verified Source has stated that the Magic are looking to trade Dwight. Yet, RealGM sure would post a fabricated source headline.

That being said there is now way it is $400 million. That number is ignorant, and BS should be emberassment that he "reported" it. Didn't think it was possible, but the dude lost even more credibility.

thats the old school way of things.

i don't doubt that the russian owner has gotten into dwights ear and promised him many things, and jay z has probably sang him a song or two. Dwight can sign a 5 years 120mil contract here along with a new shoe deal of lets say 200mil. sounds great to me if management can get good players around him.

compared to a 250mil shoe deal and 4 years 85mil? contract with NJ.

Both sound great. Problem is dwight would look bad leaving orlando for a 15 win team but i think he still would do it if his heart is in brooklyn.

Josh Robbins ‏ @JoshuaBRobbins
But I don't see Hawks trading away Josh Smith for Ryan Anderson & others. And I'm skeptical Smith would away D12 to stay

Josh Robbins ‏ @JoshuaBRobbins
JRich's injured left ankle did swell after last night's game, but not as badly as it could have. My guess: Redick will start Sunday

Josh Robbins ‏ @JoshuaBRobbins
How good would having Gortat be for Magic now? Not as D12 replacement, but as an asset who could fetch some1 to keep D12

Steve Kyler ‏ @stevekylerNBA
For those wanting a dwight answer now, let me ask you this... what are you having for dinner on July 1st -- do you know? Why don't you know?

Steve Kyler ‏ @stevekylerNBA
As mind numbing as this process is... Dwight can not and will not make a decision on his future today.. because he doesn't know enough yet.

Steve Kyler ‏ @stevekylerNBA
You get to be the top free agent when money doesn't really matter maybe once in your career... you have to do this dance

Steve Kyler ‏ @stevekylerNBA
You have to look at the entire landscape and make sure that you pick the situation for the peak of your career - that still could be Orlando

Kyler is a bafoon and Robbins speculates more than a message board poster. Both ask a bunch of what if's and coulda woulda shoulda tweets and it's nothing substantial at all. Atleast Berger and Woj only come out to play when they have some actual news.

im telling you this would be a solid REALISTIC return for us in a rental situation. Lowry is a stud on an amazing contract and we move some bad contracts. With the denver model you get alot of solid role players on good contracts then you go and get an all star in FA and your competing for a title soon there after. Picks and cash come to us http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8y5zax8
pg:lowry,nelson
sg:kmart,jrich,redick,wafer
sf:Jrich,Qrich,Parsons,harper
pf:Anderson,davis,EC3
C:Dalembert,thabeet,Davis
obviously well have to probably drop 1 or 2 players to make this happen or flip a sg to the clips, pacers, or wolves for more picks or young talent

Here is the top 10 in athlete endorsement money from 2011 from Forbes.
Tiger Woods $60,000,000
Phil Mickelson $57,000,000
LeBron James $30,000,000
Dale Earnhardt Jr. $22,000,000
Jeff Gordon $18,000,000
Peyton Manning $15,000,000
Kevin Garnett $14,000,000
Dwyane Wade $14,000,000
Kevin Durant $14,000,000
Dwight Howard $12,000,000
Jimmie Johnson $12,000,000

None of those guys are in major metropolitan areas. You don't have to be in a big city to attract people. If you win, the people come to you.

As for Linsanity, is it still going on? It was kind of like last year when people tried to talk themselves into Amare as an MVP candidate because the Knickes were .500. Now they want him gone. The New York media is great at creating trends that don't last.

That's awful man. I know it clears a lot of bad contracts, but Lowry is the only really decent player in that deal. I'm never going to be a fan of Kevin Martin. He's a fragile 2 guard that lacks athleticism. Thabeet and Dalembert are a wash. Parsons has upside, but still not a great return.
