As far as the Dwight 180, this is him conceding the PR defeat, and protecting his image. im SO FREAKING SICK OF HIM STILL! Am i the only one who morally still wants this guy traded? I cannot stand to see this bitch do this for another 12 months. It is not humane...

NO. I want him gone too... Sorry guys, not to be debbie downer but he has handled this very poorly and I simply have lost trust in him.

We are going to have to go through this shi1t for the next friggin' year now!

If this does indeed come to fruition, the only thing I can hope is that he gets on THE SAME PAGE with the FO this go around. There needs to be a real plan put in place. No trade requests, no uncertainties. Tell them you want Monta and/or JSmith in summer 2013, and tell them if they don't get one of those two, you won't resign then and you will try FA, and nothing else about it mentioned until that point. It is, of course, up to Dwight at that point to recruit one or both of those guys and relay the message :)

Exactly. We could do well to learn from NJN on this - Deron Williams was willing to sacrifice a season of his career because Billy King showed him the plan, he bought in, and they were executing it. If Dwight formally opts in, yes, it scuppers the plan for them, but all the FO can do is set a plan in place to get the players to win a title, and try to execute it.

Players who came out of meeting called by Howard today in San Antonio have given conflicting accounts about what Howard said, sources say.

Some came away thinking Howard said he was "all in" for the rest of the season, while others thought he meant next season, sources say.

However, a person briefed on the conversation told @CBSSports that Howard told a Magic official today he would sign the ETO waiver.

WTF? This might not be a done deal, folks...

Lol, I really hope none of us were over there trolling NJ....because they will come in here and torment us if this doesn't come true.

This is concerning. All he has to do is sign his name. Why the delay?

There is something missing about the whole Dwight Howard situation. Something is missing or something more is coming. But this is too random

I'm with him on this. If he indeed is not opting out it would have taken something pretty major to convince him of that. He wouldn't do it when it hinged on bringing in Ellis a guy he wanted here, but all of a sudden today he's going to?

Call me Delusional now. Seems Dwight doesn't have as many haters now. I am sure we glad the Magic didn't trade Dwight for Lopez. I am glad most of you are not GM's or we would have shipped Dwight out long ago.

He's got the waiver and told the Magic he'll sign for next year. He's going to sign.

I don't think this is an evil plot, since, apparently, all of those close to him didn't expect this (including his agent), and, let's face this, Dwight is an amazing athlete and great player, but he isn't exactly Napoleon, brain-wise.

I really think that hard-fought win against the Heat made him maybe think twice. I think up until that point he thought this team had no shot whatsoever. Hell, lots of people on this board thought that, and most still do think that.

change of heart is OK, but 80% of you did not think that would happen. most keep dwight people was not banking on him changing his mind, but we did not rule it out. that was the difference.

in fact, history is basketball is full of change of hearts and more shocking ones than this. until the fat lady sings people.

dwight is just kid, you should GET that - unless you too are kids of course, then it is fine.

Claim down. The Magic will have a crack at Ellis in the summer of 2013 when they have a ton of cap space to use.
