Official Trade Thread XIX: 3/14/12 - 6/22/12

Post#1 » by Benjammin » Thu Mar 15, 2012 2:12 am

Okay, in the spirit of the last several pages of the last trade thread, I propose trading McGee for a box of twizzlers and a snack size bag of dorito's; I'm willing to take on some other junk to move Dray as well.

It's been good for me not to see a lot of the recent games because evidently animal spirits have taken over the board that now move people to want to trade McGee for absolute crap.

He's bad, and he's traded lotto picks in the past, but he wouldn't trade a lotto pick for an obviously lotto team. Esp when it could be the 1st overall. He's done a bad job, but he's not incapable of basic human thought.

Meaning we are asking for actual value when most people (rightfully so) believe he doesn't have much.

We should be able to get something done, if we drop the asking price and have them taking on Blotche.

Although, that probably falls under "asking for the world".

I quite like the idea of that GSW trade on pg98 of the previous thread. It almost gives us a whole new Wizards, and GSW are unlikely to really be competing for anything outside of an 8th seed. Bogut still isnt healthy and Curry needs to have reduced minutes to heal.

If they preferred, I might even substitute Crawford for Nick Young in the trade, they might like that he can handle the ball. Maybe a Crawford for Klay swap? Throw in one of our 2nds to even up the value.

Edit: Oh, but I wouldnt include McGee in the trade. That feels like we are giving up too much. And I'd like to see how McGee plays next to Lee.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Looking more and more like no moves will get made.

No one wants Dray. Just another wake up call for him to get his neck fat in the gym.
McGee has come out saying he wants 14M a year in an extension. Suffering from Nickism.
Nick would have to agree to a trade and give up his bird rights.

If you dont have a hand worth playing, then the right move is to fold. Wait to fight another day.

I still say their cap space is most important. Just wait. Amnesty Dray if needed and buy out Lewis. Let Nick walk if you have to. As for McGee, they can always make an offer if they see fit or sign and trade and get something for him.

Better to let players walk instead of making a bad deals. They will still end up having picks and cap space.

Granted. Easy for me to say. It is not my money and doing what I suggest will cost Ted a ton.

Maybe the buy out Lewis and keep Dray another year. They can always amnesty him 2013/14 His 7M next year isnt going to crush them. Just an option.

Tough! I don't really want to hear the excuse of not getting malcontents off the team because of how much it'd cost.

You're the owner of the team. The GM that you have NOT fired gave the contract to this player. Either fire the GM for costing you a buttload of money with his errors or don't own the team.

Then there is the reality of the situation. I'm trying to predict what will happen, not what I would like to see happen.

Knowing Grunfeld, we'll probably end up with some disappointing recent draft pick that they've had their eye on for a while.

Is Austin Daye available? Maybe at least Ernie will squeeze a heavily protected 1st aka we might get a non lottery pick in 2015.

I tend to think the meaning is, "they are seeking fair market value, while we think we can steal him because they blow and are desperate."

Possible, I just don't see other team's throwing us even marginal talent.

Seriously, what value does he have? He's an average center with a basketball I.Q of a rock, whose shown little improvement since his rookie year, who's going to need a new (probably large) contract next season.

The team is also looking to move Andray Blatche, per the Washington Post, but can’t find any suitors. ESPN noted that the Wizards have even gone so far as to try to package him and JaVale McGee together in a possible deal; however, nobody wanted two chronic underachievers with character issues either. All signs point to this team remaining intact come 12:01, Thursday

The Ides of March approacheth, come on Ted, its time to sharpen your knives and do away with Ernie if he can't begin to fix what he has created.

I'd say trying to package Blatche with McGee is pretty much asking for the world, yea.

Can Nick be traded for Bledsoe? I See that the Clips are looking for a larger guard.

Ernie is in a box, it doesn't appear as-if he will be able to pull-off another dump of one of his bad contracts (Blatche) to save himself. Blatche will be a very expensive paper weight for us.

That's the thing a lot of people choose to ignore - If a GM trades for BOTH McGee and Blatche, he will get laughed out of the league. It might make sense on paper, but it's a nonstarter in the real world.

Clippers are looking for a "larger guard". Nick fits the bill. Get'er done EG!

The Clippers have a TPE that could be traded for Nick, so that would make Bledsoe for Nick work straight up. I wouldn't be upset if the Wizards took back Foye to save the notoriously cheap Sterling a little money.

There'd be no reason to take back Foye, since Nick is expiring. We'd need to get /something/ out of the trade.

Let's assume Blatche isn't going to get dealt. No one is desperate enough to take on that fat basset hound.
