He's slightly smallish for a modern NBA SG (6'4, average wingspan) and while he has nice shooting form, his inconsistency on his outside jumper is a bit worrisome. From what I've seen he doesn't look like a great finisher around the rim and doesn't have great handles or the ability to create his own shots, though he will drive.
It looks like he should develop into a decent NBA SG, but I'm not sure of his fit next to DD (who I assume would be shifted to SF) mostly because they would both be slightly undersized, and neither are particularly good at creating their own shots off the dribble.
Definitely, you've seen how he played so I definitely share the same concern in terms of ball handle, it's actually nice to share the same concern with someone who actually
seen how he plays instead of prematurely retardedly throw out numbers to attack on things without seeing the games and prematurely assume the beal fans attack the ignorant poster relentlessly without legitimate reasons.
His handle does worry me because so far I've seen him sneakily attack but I like to see him do that on a consistent basis. With a good handle, a player can do so much more with it, I'm skeptical on why he doesn't do much mid-range, was it due to his limited handle? So far I've seen the repertoire of 3 point jump shot ability/attacking/playmaking but rarely any mid-range. I'm really concerned about this aspect of his game.
From what we both seen
live, his finishing ability around the rim isn't as great, tho he will sacrifice his body in the lane which is something I prefer over a guy like Lamb who's reluctant to do that at all. He definitely needs to improve on his body control if he wants to finish at the rim on a NBA level. I know many shares the concern with his undersized body, good thing he's strongly built but the concern with him and demar on the floor together is quite noticeable. That's why I don't mind if Beal comes off the bench as sixth man in first year, and if things don't work out, trade Demar.
Also his shooting is quite a concern, I don't know if its the mental issue or not, a guy with a textbook shooting form with smooth release shouldn't be shooting this terrible. I hope he can improve on that once he goes to the NBA.
I appreciate your insight, you've observed quite a few concerns from watching him and I shared the exact same concern. Hope you can come to game thread on Thursday so we can analyze more on Beal and I'm glad you don't just blindly throw out numbers to make criticism, I'd appreciate that, thx bro.
