DeRozan could slide to the 3 be their back up or be traded

We worry about Demar later but first we need to worry about our draft rank, we're not crappy enough to get him if he continue to shoot up the draft board.

I have to admit, Mitchell from North Texas sounds interesting. He's a hybrid PF/SF and I've only seen him play one game but he's super athletic and can be made into a heavier Kirilenko.

I don't see him going in the top 4. I think Davis, Drummond, MKG and maybe Barnes will be taken ahead of him for sure. We should have a clear shot at him regardless of where we draft... the question then becomes, does BC want Beal? or does he want a SF to pair with DeRozan?

Personally, I think Harrison barnes is the best fit for the Raptors in this draft. He's the guy I want to come out with. I'm sure the Raptors brass know that the kid has potential and he fits every one of our needs to a "T".. but we would do well off with a SG like Beal or Lamb to. I think we're going to come out of the 2012 draft with a wing player if its not AD #1.

Chad Ford just tweeted that Washington would take Beal as high as #2.

This is definetly looking like a 2 player draft between Davis and Beal. We need to step our tank game up.

CALLED IT!

Beal's the real deal. I would have taken him in the top 5. Even over Barnes and MKG. I'm gonna call Beal is a top 3 pick come draft day. He's going to be a star in this league.

I'll tell you what, definitely possible if he measures out at the combine as well as I think he will.

Trust me man. You don't want both of your wing players to have no ball handling ability. It makes for a terrible offense. Especially during crunch time and the playoffs.

Demar has handles. He just doesn't want to show off.

Ive thought Beal was the second best prospect in this draft besides Davis for awhile.
He reminds me of a 6'4 - 6'5 Paul Pierce. But I think some NBA GM's will be scared of his
height.

God I hope we get a top 2 pick...

I guess Drummond, Lamb, or Barnes wouldn't be bad consolation prizes but we can't fall
back past 5 in the stupid lottery.

Just ignore Scrubert Arenas, he doesn't know what he's saying. While I acknowledge the Barnes' best fit category, I think his shooting ability along with improving skillset and defensive ability, are like you said, a best fit at the 3 under Casey's system.

I don't really share the same view on Beal tho. Normally in a draft, there is always one guy who shoots up on the board due to stellar performances during tourney, last year that guy was D-Will now this year I think it belongs to Beal. There's always debate on who to take, Beal or Lamb, MKG or Barnes. One of those 4 will have to come out on top among that group and by doing that, one way to do it is through tourney against elite competitions. So far, Beal has proven a lot more than my boy Harry and MKG. If Beal continues to have solid performance, where it doesn't have to be 19 or 20 pts but rather continue having stat-stuffing performances for the rest of these games especially if they go to final four, that to me is a guarantee rise on draft board. Yes, he's this year's D-will imo.

Beal looking NBA ready but can him and Demar coexist? I don't think so.

Actually when I think about which wing would fit best next to DeMar, it is Beal. Beal has the long range game, the handles, and the rebounding; and DeMar has the midrange game, and athleticism. I think they would make an excellent wing duo.

Same, if there's one guy who's not the best fit to Demar would be Lamb. Lamb doesn't have the playmaking ability Beal has to get his teammates involved, and can be ball-dominant scorer which creates conflict with Demar, plus he's also similar to Demar in terms of going through screens to get shots., but Beal can handle the rock, find Demar open easily, if he can work well with two midget wing chuckers in gator and still impact the game in so many ways without the ball, then I don't see him having any problems with Demar! They are very good duo tho the primary concern lies on Demar's ability to be SF. Other than that, their games actually complement on each other pretty well.

®ated wrote:The more i think about it, the more Barnes seems like the right choice for us. I can definitely picture him a raptors uniform next season. He may lack elite athleticism, but man is this kid savvy in his foot work and he as solid defense/boarding to boot. If BC can trade Bargs + a future 1st for a second top 10 pick this year, it would be jizz city on this board. Imagine coming out of the draft with Drummond and Barnes assuming Drummond isnt a clear cut top 3 pick. That would definitely make our future so much brighter.

That would be seriously awesome but I don't think it happens.

My take on this whole draft is there's nothing for us to worry about. We're headed for a Top 5 pick and there is much more talent in this draft than people realize I think. Davis, MKG, Robinson, Barnes and Beal round out the Top 5 IMO but there are still other really good talents like Drummond, Lamb or even Sullinger that have big NBA potential as well. We're going to get a good player no matter how you slice it

That said, I still am 100% about the tank. Just because we're going to get a good player anyways doesn't mean we should slack of the tank. The lottery can change a lot and as we know, the higher you all, the higher you stay. In other words, the worse your record is, the less chance you have of falling out of the top 3 or top 5..of course it all depends what your record is like after the season. So slacking off the tank too much could end up doing more damage than good.

My hope is that BC and Stefanski are aggressive in the draft. We need another pick. Doesn't have to be in the lottery but another prospect that can develop into something good. Miller, Moultrie, Ross, Rivers and even Wroten are all players projected to be available out of the lottery that still have significant potential and high ceilings. These players are low-risk high-reward type players and we need to do what we can to capitalize on that. Ed is a prime trade chip...especially if our top 5 pick is a big. Maybe a team outside of the lottery likes Ed better than what's available with their pick and can pick up some cash as well. Obviously the higher the pick we can get from him, the better.

*Side Note: I've got a crazy gut feeling that the Top 5 will be (in no specific order) Anthony Davis, MKG, Barnes, Beal and Robinson. If Toronto gets the 6th pick, I feel BC will go with Drummond or Lamb.

This draft may not have any superstar talent after Davis, but I think this draft is starting to look better and better as the days go on. With guys like Royce White,Harkless, Burke(possibly) declaring i can see why every team has been trying to acquire second rounders as well as hold on to their pick Lakers being the only exception.

With guys like Kris Joseph and cj leslie who would have went in the 20's last year being projected as mid second rounders the season can't end any sooner.

why not? He has the handles, shooting and natural scoring ability to not only coexist with Demar(has to be stronger), but with Bayless and James Johnson as well on the perimeter.

Say we draft Beal we can run a lineup of Bayless,Beal,Derozan(or Johnson),Bargs and Val at some point in the game that would give opposing team's headaches. You got two quick scoring guards that can create in Beal and Bayless, a guy who can slash and get to the line in Derozan and another guy that can score from anywhere in Bargs. Need i say more?

Wait, Bayless is staying, nooooooo! If there's a way we can get Dragic, it'd be ecstatic!
