I see Thomas Robinson as a SF in the league and not a PF. He'll excel because he actually has some handles and an outside shot.
There's no way Anthony Davis will thrive as a PF in the league because he's just way too wiry and will be bodied by opposing big men. Quincy Acy physically dominated him in today's game, imagine what real NBA players will do to him in the paint. He'll be a good weak side defender but with below average offense and a skinny frame like that I don't see him being more than a very rich mans Hakim Warrick.
Barnes played well. I like his game, especially his jumper and i was happy with his willingness to drive into the paint today. However, all of you calling for us to draft Barnes must understand that we'll unlikely get him as there are a handful of teams with worse records that he will likely fall to.
Perry Jones is a piece of sh*t. I used to be a supporter of his in the fall but during the last month of the season before the tournament he completely folded and stopped producing. He ought to work on his game and stay in school or else he's going to be a very late 1st rounder.
lol this is exactly what was called out before , the coddling of barnes and the ripping apart of jones.
Robinson doesn't have a SF game. He's suited for PF because he's physical and he has the strength needed at the NBA level... plus he's a great rebounder.
Anthony Davis will be an all-star NBA PF in a few years. He might be able to play some SF, but that's taking away his greatest strength... shot blocking and lane intimidation. Look at KG, then think about what you're saying about the guy. He'll gain some strength, there's no question about that. He's a legit #1 NBA pick. He's already lightyears ahead of Hakim Warrick, you're analysis isn't much of an analysis when it comes to AD. He has excellent handles for a big man, not to mention a decent outside shot to go along with it. Then his defence... c'mon... there's no way you just compared him to Warrick...
Robinson is a lot more coordinated with his ball handling than Davis, yes he's muscular and strong but just because of that he shouldn't be disqualified from the SF position. Have you not heard of great rebounding SF's? He has the ability to stretch the floor at his position and just like Davis, I feel like he is undersized to start as a PF. Robinson has a face up game and a sweet jumper, he can hit the 3 point shot, these are things that Anthony Davis struggles at.
I will agree with your KG comparison, however, KG was a much more aggressive offensive and agile player on his feet than Davis is now. Davis is great defensively, you're right about that but you dont start a guy like him at the PF position just to get backed down by larger opposing big men and hope that his timing is right when he goes for blocks. In the NBA, it's going to be hard for him to block a lot of the shots he does now simply because everyone has better low post moves.
In reference to Thomas Robinson playing SF, I am speaking about him in the context of this team, I would definitely start him at the SF position and have him play the outside in game he likes to play around the baseline area while Bargnani stands around the 3point line and shoots his jumpers, while Valancinuas does the dirty work on the glass and moves off pick and rolls. That would keep teams completely honest on defense as we would be able to hurt them in so many different ways.
