Good News is it looks like Ernie is on the way out, perhaps Ernie is going to Portland. I would not be a fan of having Ferry come-in.

Is that even allowed - to have one franchise devastated by both a father and his son as a General Manager? Shouldn't the Commish come and veto such a move if nothing else for the fans?

Having spent years fulminating against Bob Ferry and the "if we just make this one more deal, we can compete for the 8th spot in the playoffs this year" attitude we had during his years, I just can't give Danny a clean slate . . . besides, he looks like a 6'11 version of Moby.

Why not go out and get one of the Spurs or Thunder's top young assistants? So sick of retreads...

Uhhh, you do know Danny Ferry is an assistant gm (i think the VP of basketball operations) with the Spurs, right?

Ferry made some mistakes but was in a difficult situation w/ Lebron. The Hughes decision was the only bad move I thought he made and that was more pf a panic move after they initially went after Redd. Nobody will be happy with whatever Ted does here. There seems to be an obsession with this assistant HC in Memphis and now people want the next hot assistant as gm too. I think a team that needs to show quick and dramatic improvement in year 3 for most of our young players can't afford to go w/ inexperience at the HC and GM position. And I also look at the Pop factor here. If Pop thinks Ferry is a good bball guy, then I don't think anybody here can question that.

And for those saying that they'd prefer Ernie to Ferry, at least Ferry had a vision for what he wanted to put together around Lebron. He built a team that could space the floor well which gave Lebron the opportunity & space to operate. When the doubles came he found the open man.

Ernie doesn't know what he wants. He wants a team of athletes who can just run the floor with Wall but he doesn't get good rebounders or defenders which is key to running. On top of that the floor gets bottled up for John because we have not shooting. No we traded for Nene (which I like) but we're tryign to converto to a slow it down team now? There's no direction or consistency with what he does.

Straight off the cuff it's a NO from me. He couldnt build a winner around LeBron.

There must be better options out there. We need to give a young upstart from another team a go at being a GM like OKC did with Presti.

We need the new Presti, choice of a new Wiz generation.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Former Cavs GM Danny Ferry is being touted as a candidate to run the Wizards...

That could mean anything (e.g., Danny Ferry's agent/publicist is touting/spreading rumors about how hot Ferry is right now to drive up his bargaining power).

I say no to Ferry also. I believe OKC has done a great thing in its turnaround. I know there was some luck involved, but a lot of it was skill. Who better than to consider than Sam Presti's #2 guy...DC native Troy Weaver. By all accounts, I hear this guy is really sharp, and a trusted resource for Presti.

+1 The organization needs a new, fresh, up-and-coming face, someone currently working for a Tier-1 organization perhaps. Please, no re-treads and make sure Ed Tapscott is part of the purge.

Didn't know that, but still I meant someone younger and on the up and up.

I don't know a thing about Weaver, but it looks good on paper. He still may be a little green. That said, it would also be nice if he happened to be really close with James Harden, you know what I mean?

It wouldn't take much to sell the DC faithful on Weaver. Look at this quote about his DC roots.

MT: What is DC’s signature?

TW: “DC’s signature is guys for the most part who are looking to play the game the right way. When you look at the great players from DC, they’ve been guys who can do a lot of different things. You have three guys in the Hall of Fame: Elgin Baylor, Dave Bing and Adrian Dantley. Those guys were well rounded players. If you get a guy from that area, for the most part, he’ll look to do a lot of things. Look at the young guys we have here, Jeff Green and Kevin Durant, they are well rounded players. Some areas might have great athletes, some might have great ball handlers, but in DC you have guys who can play a complete game.”

The idea that Jeff Green is a well rounded player who'll look to do a lot of things does make me question his GMliciousness

Weaver is priority number one. Then bring in a guy who can assist him with designing contracts that allow us to keep weaver to keep his talent sub market rate lomgterm continuosly through the years and we are set I would want him here for this draft. I like idea of recruiting some off San anyonio internal development guys wiyh ferry. Get weaver as GM then someone who has been in San anyonioo for a decade as asst GM but thirty is giving weaver what ever title necessary for him tho new herebefore we draft this year
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

I got goose bumps reading about Troy Weaver!

He meets my criteria for an ideal candidate at GM.

http://www.nba.com/thunder/team/basketballops1.html (Scroll down for more on Troy Weaver)

One, he knows talent. Two, he knows basketball from HS, to college, to the NBA. Three, he's worked with some greats, already. He coached the DC Assault to an AAU national championship. He recruited Carmelo for Jim Boeheim. They won an NCAA championship. He worked with Jerry Sloan and Larry Miller in Utah, when the Jazz were very competitive. Most recently, he's been with Sam Presti through the whole OKC rebuild. From day one he's seen Durant and Westbrook grow. He was there when they drafted Serge Ibaka.

On top of all that, Troy Weaver is a young guy with DC/PG County roots! What more can you ask for?
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
