Re: Wolves Defense has Collapsed without Rubio
he was great at disrupting passing lanes-kiddesque in that regard. Though Rubio needs to get a little better in man to man defense.
I really am pissed He got injured.

Our playoff dreams have really collapsed once Rubio went down. Pek and Beasley injured, too.

They were playing organised basketball, offensively and defensively, with Rubio. Now I am not sure whether there'ss even a system. It seems Adelman has lost control of these bunch.

Offence is better w7o Rubio + they lost a 6-11 16-9 guy (when play 30+ min)
Yeah, its all about Rubio

Pek's a bad defender. The Wolves play better defense with him out.
So defensively..yea..it is pretty much about Rubio.

If Rubio had played all year, I don't think it would have been out of line to put him first team all defense.

People saying defense by a PG is overrated need to look at this. His overall defensive impact is fantastic.

Pek was a product by Rubio in big parts, because Rubio could get him the ball in deep post position.
The Wolves have to play fast now, because their half court offense is not that good without their best playmaker and opponents except Love getting his 3 or 4 offensive rebounds as long as he creats 4 on 5 situations for his defense by that nonsense.
And Rubio was the only good defender on the whole Wolves team (Wes Johnson is decent). The amount of responsibilty this guy had was rediculous. He had to play tough defense on every possession and direct the offense on the break and in half court sets. He was the MVP of that team, no doubt.

agree that his defense is great but I think that Love is the mvp of the wolves.

When Rubio was on the court opponents tried to stop him and not Love. Stopping dribble penetration from Rubio was the biggest priority. Love gets his points and rebounds, fine. But he doesn't do much for his team mates and some of the things he does to fill the stat sheet are really really bad for the team, like his focus on offensive and defensive rebounds. On defense Rubio was abled to counter that a bit by him stopping opposing ball handlers and allowing Love to trott (like 5 seconds later) back into defense.
The MVP is the player that contributes the most to the success of his team. Love contributes the most his number on the stat sheet.

Love is your star. I don't know why you can't appreciate him.

Re: Wolves Defense has Collapsed without Rubio
No one has had a bigger impact on the current wolves then Rubio. Love puts up good stats, but Rubio is the most important player on the team, he transforms them on both sides of the ball. I think you can reasonably argue that Love play helps the team win, but it doesn't help his teammates play at all. Rubio helps them make up for their weaknesses and improves their strengths.

Maybe the fact that Pek, Beas, Barea, and now Ridnour have all been dealing with nagging injuries has more to do with the TWolves woes than Adelman losing control. Adelman had a very tight rotation when Ricky was healthy... rarely going more than 8-9 deep. We've now lost 5 of those guys for significant amounts of time and we also have Brad Miller (dinosaur), Anthony Randolph (negative BBIQ), and Darko (completely useless) at the end of the bench leaving us 7 guys to rely on from night-to-night, most of whom (Webster, Lee, Ellington) were strapped to the bench at the start of the season and didn't get any time to become accustomed to Adelman's system.
And remember, Adelman is known to have a complex offensive system and with the lockout/shortened season, there was just no way that our team was going to be able to fully implement his sets, especially without a full training camp and practice time during the season. The job Adelman has done with these guys is pretty remarkable. I'm really excited to see what a full training camp and some roster balancing will do.
