Being “a little bit wild” works in certain pursuits, like stand-up comedy or break dancing.

It doesn’t work when you’re an NBA point guard. “A little bit wild” is how the Charlotte Bobcats coaching staff viewed rookie Kemba Walker running the pick-and-roll. Looking back to the season’s outset in December, Walker agrees.

As long as Kemba can fix his jump shot, I'm certain he will have a good career in the nba.

I agree with this.

Honestly though even if he doesn't improve his shot he has shown good signs as a playmaker imo, if he passed more and took what the defense gave him he would be a very good PG.

I have complete faith in Kemba.

He was the smart pick for us in the draft. He'll be fine in the coming years. He just got brought into a difficult situation being on the worst team in the NBA. But the young guys will grow together and this team will be fine. I fully expect a solid improvement in Kemba over this off season.

If we had not taken Kemba last Draft, we would have to pay DJA's asking price. Because this 2012 Draft is not at all PG loaded.

Bonnell is a complete idiot. He posted whom he voted for in his awards and it was embarassing.

Had Walker as the third best rookie (I have faith in Walker, but he was by no means the third best rookie this year).

Had Lou Williams and Zach Randolph as his top 2 in 6th man of the year (James Harden wasn't even in his top 3, beginning to wonder If he even watches other teams ).

I kind of like the fact that Kemba and Biz are so under the radar, they'll likely look like breakout players next year when they (hopefully) have teammates that can play some basketball.

Kemba is atleast a top 5 rookie

The only ones I would for sure take over him are Kyrie Irving, Knight (only because of how long he's got to start), and possibly Klay Thompson with his late season surge but it's even questionable because it's hard to say how much of his success is the Warriors system.

Irving, Knight, Leonard, Brooks, Faried, Rubio (although he has been injured), Thompson and maybe even Isaiah Thomas are the rookies I would pick over Walker.

But that's just me.

If we took Leonard people would be complaing about drafting another bust. He is a product of playing with the Spurs and many, many all-stars.

Brooks is a dime a dozen and a healthy reggie williams is nearly identical

Faried is very good but again if he was on the Bobcats would he have that production?

Many back seat GM'ers fail to take into question talent surrounding the rookie and coaching when discussing things like this. I could guarentee you that Kemba's stats would be very different had he played for the Knicks or Lakers...there'd be thousands of threads about how he is the ROY and the next "star" or part of the new "Big 3". Same for Biyombo. These two rookies got thrown out there with the worst coaching staff and worst talent in the league in a lockout season with no preseason/practice(Biyombo) and one practice a week of the course of the season with a coaching staff that clearly doesn't care. I mean what do you expect?

not Rubio?

I wouldn't take Brooks over him either, but some would argue that he has had a better rookie year.

Unfortunately, you don't compare rookie seasons by which team they play on. Kawhi, for example, has had a better season than Kemba. It doesn't matter what team he's on. No need to make excuses and/or try to qualify performance.

Yes, but he's also coached by Popavich and plays next to Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, and a host of championship experience players. I guarantee you if Lenoard was a Bobcat he'd have worse stats than Tyrus Thomas.

I'm not saying Kemba is better. But you also can't judge him for being on this catastrophe of a team. A rookie Steph Curry would have done no better.

... But he's not. It doesn't matter WHY he's having a better season, it just matters IF he is. And he is.

I'm not judging them on a basis of who's better. I'm judging them on a basis of who's having a better rookie season.

I think people are just talking about who they'd rather have from this draft class...but yeah I'd much rather have Rubio. I think Kemba is in the discussion of the top 5 rookies, but I think he's just outside. Kyrie, Rubio, Klay, Kawhi, Faried, Brooks, and a few others all have a case.
