Those kinds of elbows don't happen in basketball all the time. It wasn't a clean hit but it caused a concussion? Right. You deserve to be elbowed in the back of the head by a giant 240 pound man.

Difference is that was clear intentional and there are a lot of swings when guys make it look unintentional - for example Malone when he chipped Nash tooth- clear intentional dirty play, he went straight for Nash's face. We are talking about multigame suspension for Artest and an offensive foul for Karl Malone.
two things;
- people are overreacting, because Artest is a headcase
- double standards; no other player would get comments like 'ban for playoffs/ 1st round' etc

And in fact I don't even like lakers expect Gasol, i root against them unless they play Heat; i just don't like overreaction and double standards here

so yeah 2games MAX

With Ron it's not a matter of double standards. It's a matter of protecting the rest of the league.

Ron is not a headcase. He is mentally unstable. If any other NBA player was mentally unstable like Ron then I would hold him in the same standards. But no other player is like him.

Malone should've gotten ejected and at least a game, but that was at least some semblance of a basketball play.

If anything deserves a double standard in the workplace, it's individuals like Ron Artest. Different rules should apply to self-admitted mental patients with a history of oddwall behavior.

A slightly similar person who should be held to the same standards is Delonte West, who is also has a well-known mental incapacity- but his behavior is nowhere near as hazardous as Ron.

What are we waiting for? For Ron to do it again? For another player to get multiple offenses over the course of years so we can point and say "he's just like Ron! NOW it's a problem! NOW we can start handing out long suspensions!".

And I'll admit, one of my favorite guys probably should've been used as an example- Bruce Bowen. Great guy who is special to my team and my basketball fanhood, and though there were instances of tough defense leading to potential injury there were still too many other instances of reoccuring hazardous non-basketball plays.

How much longer do we wait before bringing the hammer down on dangerous guys?

A gun can more than make up for those 80 pounds!

That would be crazy!

Ron might be slightly bigger, but Oakley was nasty as hell. Intentionally nasty. He was a mean dude.

look ,ron was trying to do a clear out , and was all pumped up, but wasnt trying to hurt the guy, he needs suspension for sure..

but a ban? seriously? i know yall hate the lakers, and hate ron artest from the malice in the palace...

but hardin is aguy who is known to be annoying and a player who invades opposing space unneccesarily
...so what the hell was he doing running up and right into ron like that? i think ron meant to do a body check on him...and missed...that is a major bad on artests part...

idk....i guess anything less than 20 years to life wont suffice for all the cockroach haters around here, but would suspect the rest of this season, playoffs included...

for those asshats who just KNOW that it was an intentional shot to the head, who does does that and doesnt even look at the person they hit...?

Do you need to look at the person you are elbowing? Or you are just aware where he is 'cause you are right NEXT to him? Do you need to aim? C'mon...

Nice respectful post btw.

and yr post is classy right? he threw an elbow, to clear him out, dumb move , unneccesary, uncalled for, wouldve gotten a foul , but do you really think that artest really intended to hit harden in the head with his elbow? really? hardin who wasnt in the play artest just made with the dunk? but artest just was so smart that he picked hardin out of the corner of his eye, and thought , yeah him, ill elbow him...

its beyond unfortunate what ron did, but the overreaction on this board is just as bad...

i know it makes people like you feel all warm and fuzzy to attack anything los angeles lakers, but again...do you think artest purposely elbowed another mans head? as part of a celebration?

i mean come on, i know hatorade comes in 5 refreshing flavors, but put the chalice down, dorothy, and be reasonable here...

So saying it was intentional is now hating. I'm not dealing with these kind of kids.
