I guess Jonas will give it all to his NT.. even though he wants to come over to the NBA..
I mean, do you really think Jonas is thinkin about Summer league?? Of course not, making the Olympics is the major goal..

Absolutely, JV will give everything to the senior team to make the Olympics. But if they don't then regardless of how close he is with his team-mates in his age class who will be in the under 20's tournament this summer, his aspirations are rightfully higher than theirs now that he is in the senior squad and drafted in the NBA.

However I wouldn't bet against Lithuania qualifying but who knows - It would be cool to see him dominating the summer league.

What you all forgetting is that Lithuania has another big men with Pau Gasol's potential. Next season he's coming to Rockets.
Donatas Motiejunas 7' 1" Power Forward/Center, Best Case: Pau Gasol; Worst Case: Yi Jianlian; He has proven alot more than JV, setting Euroleague record for defensive rebounds 21 in total 24 rebounds. This kid is a monster.
So Lithuania with a freaky frontcourt should easily compete for 1st place.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Motiejunas won't likely even be on the olympic team, he didn't even make the EuroBasket team last summer, anyways I think Europe will take all three qualifying spots (Greece, Lithuania, Russia), I just don't see the other teams as any good, Macedonia who was a major surprised last summer may also make some noise

A monster who basically shrank like a midget's penis in ice water when he went up against Jonas last.

I have a question for you guys, specifically people who have watched JV play. Will his game translate to the nba if he doesnt get much bigger? I personally think strength is the only thing keeping JV away from being a star. But my worry is that he doesnt get much bigger. Is it fair to say that if JV becomes much stronger he can be a dominant center but if he doesnt hes just a bettter skilled version of Biedrins?

I think sky is the limit for JV if he can fill out his body. He doesnt need to have Dwights physique but something similar to Lamarcus Aldridge would be great.

How can he not fill out?Its not his body which is limiting him he has good frame its all about him working on gaining that weight. He went from 225 lbs in his rookie season to to 245 lbs at draft in one year. He is probably now over 250lbs he will fill out. As I repeat myself his body frame suggests he won't have problem adding more weight just needs some time. Í don't like that Biedrins comperation if he will come to NBA and will not improve at all he will probably will end up as Noah with better touch.

 What are you talking about?

Euroleague's Andrey Blatche has Pau Gasol potential? 7'1 guy who scores 13 points, by taking 11 shots, from which 4 are three pointers, per game? That guy? I wouldnt take that guy for free thank you very much. I will be so disappointed if that guy makes Lithuanian team... He is just that bad.

Jonas Valanciunas is one of the most efficient players in Europe, Donatas is one of the most inefficient ones. Jonas is much better player on both ends, he is much more proven player than poor man's Blatche.

To TheDunc:
LaMarcus Aldridge is a pure scorer PF.. we already have that in Bargs.. We expect Big V to be our anchor on D.. The advantage he has over Dwight is hes a good FT shooter, and im sure he will go to the line several times in loose ball fouls..
Strenght is very important.. if this upcoming season starts today, Bargs would be guarding the C and Jonas the PF, we DO NOT want that scenario.. about this, the organization is already working with him to gain more weight and bulk up...

He was talking about having LaMarcus Aldridge's body, not his playing style or role. I think everyone who saw Jonas lately will agree that he looks pretty decent already. He is much stronger than he used to be.

yep, when they make a close up, you can see his muscles.. he definitely looks stronger, but the competition in the NBA requires more, i guess.. i like it when hes in the paint and pushes his defender and dunks on him, wanna see that move in our team :)

Greg Stiemsma's body = Val's body.

I think Greg has few more pounds on him, but to me, it looks like VAL has more reliable pecs and overall muscle tone. You can clearly tell hes building it constantly.
Bottom line. His body is not a problem. It was one year ago, but not today.

Marcus Canby has been a excellent defense C in the league for 10 plus years and is still a stick.
