If Deron refuses to sign with the Nets, its in their best interest to look into sign and trades. Deron, as a free agent, isnt going to do that unless it makes sense to him. The Knicks with Carmelo and Chandler are ready to compete now. Dont know how much he is set on Dallas but New York might not sound bad with the addition of an extra year on his contract. From Nets point of view, they will probably lose Deron, cant get Dwight, traded away a lottery pick (top 3 protected)... they move to Brooklyn without a face. Lin can change that.

plus Brook + Lin is fantastic. marketing jackpot from heaven.

And the Brook and Amare combo would be pretty entertaining to watch... on both ends.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

This sounds like a deal that would happen.

I can really see the Nets actually doing it. **** happens for a reason. Imagine the rivalry of NY vs Brooklyn then? Melo, Lin, Chandler vs Amare & D-Will? I actually think the Knicks get better with Humphries, he's really underrated and his offensive game has gotten MUCH better.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Up to this point I was all in favor of keeping Stat, but after yesterday's bone head move, putting the team's slim chances of winning this series in even more jeopardy, Stat needs to be gone.

In other words, you can't trade Amar'e for an exemption and then sign another FA like Ilysova without also losing cap space for our own FAs, most notably Lin and Fields.

But like I said, I'm talking out of my ass.

No clue on dates and deadlines, but is it possible to sign Lin and Fields first and then to trade Stat?

NEGATIVE!!! Stat is not done, stat thrives with a POINT GUARD!!! not an isoloation player, aka MarshMELO, Melo and Stat need to adjust their contracts and get a combo of lin and nash or the kid in houston. Someone who can get in the paint....if you guys really think we're winning a ring by running ISO, ISO, ISO are out of your minds.... Lin ran Pringle's system and had JJ, Novakane, Fields, TC playing great ball. TEAM BALL!!! Miami has 2 of the top 5 players and they share the ball like crazy what do we do? ISO! FML!

i concur with op. I've been thinking about this for a while too. it makes sense for both teams. it keeps williams happy, and puts stat back in position to be useful again.

thats correct but I think there are a few teams that would do anything to acquire a big time scorer and marketable player like amare.

Houston
Nets (keeping deron)
Golden State

there are plenty of teams with bad enough contracts that might take a chance on amare.

If we win game 3 and melo looks real comfortable at the 4...as much as it pains me we really have to look at trading amare in the OS.

I'm not convinced we can get much for Amare. That contract and his horrible season might put him onto "Rashad Lewis" territory at this point

Rashard Lewis' Best Season After Signing the contract with the Magic:
18.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.2 spg, .5 bpg, 45 fg%, 40 3fg%, 84% ft, 1.7 TOs

Amare this season:
17.5 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.2 apg, .8 spg, 1 bpg, 48 fg%, 79ft%, 2.4 TOs

Id definitely take Amare, especially when comparing the current Lewis to the current Amare. I think hes tradable still. Maybe to a team like the Sixers who could really use his scoring.

Elton Brand for Amare would work straight up. Brand is still a useful post defender and his deal is an expiring one after this season. Amare would step into a role similar to the one he had in Phoenix and here pre Melo trade. The role the Sixers had hoped Elton Brand would fill but didnt. They would have about 6 million in capspace still after the trade...

Hawes/Vucevic/Amare
Amare/Brackins/Young
Iguodala/Young/Turner
Meeks/Turner/Williams
Holliday/Williams

Tyson/Harrelson
Brand/Jeffries
Melo/Fields
Shumpert
Lin
Go Knicks!

Thescout wrote:2 trades i would go after if i was the Knicks

Trade 1) Brakens and Iggy for Amre and future 1 Pick
why for 76ers- Brand is a free agent, Amre will be the Star they lack and moving Evan turner to his original position at the SF Lou Williams would start at the SG .
why for the Knicks- Iggy goes to SF Melo to PF you will have Shump and Iggy with Chandler the defense gets better along with spacing

Trade 2) Amare for Emeka Okafor and Xavier Henry
why for the hornets because again it gives them a star and make them worth coming out to see
why for the Knicks you get better defensively more rebounding and block shots. They will also get Dept on the bench with Henry, they will lose Fields to free agency along with J.R Smith.
Dragic will make you not need an option plus you would have Lin coming off the bench
According to Stephen A. Smith they will not loose Lin because they own his rights as far as free agency so even if someone sign Lin to a contract the Knicks could Match any offer including going over the 5 mil exc. in which doesnt count against the Cap. so with the 5 mil cap space sign Goran Dragic. try to resign Novak and go to war with.

Dragic/ Lin-PG
Shump/ Xavier-SG
Melo/ Novak-SF
Okafor/ Harrellson-PF
Chandler/ Jordan- C

or

Dragic/Lin-PG
Shump/ Filler free agent- SG
Iggy/ Novak-SF
Melo/ Harrellson-PF
Chandler/ Jordan-C
both teams are well rounded out and spacing shoud be no problem, DEFNSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!!

1) I dont think Amare is the STAR you think he is.
2) Matching another teams offer for Lin uses up the MLE, you cant use it to sign Dragic.

where are we getting the 2nd scoring option in this trade if we do a trade with the Hornets.

i like Brand..i think he's the type of player we need..also Al Jefferson too..he's would be great here as well..

We need a PG, SG, 6th man and a legit power forward.

I think Amar'e has game, unless he changes his way in the sense of if he's not getting the 22points plus a game..he needs to make that up by getting more rebounds and playing defense.

Brand is a Unrestricted free agent, if traded to the hornets your second scorer will become Lin, Dragic, Harrellson, Novak. they all will make up for the second scoring person because its wide open.

Is this thread serious? Nets have humphries they don't need another PF. Anyway, no one wants to take old-man, injury-riddled, no-defense, punching-glass, Stoudemire.

What types of fans are you referring to?

Personally I wouldn't be shopping him, but if a good deal came calling, I'd definitely consider.

Amare for Humphries s&t Morrow and Farmar would be fairly great for both teams.
Nets:

Lopez
Amare
Wallace
Brooks
Deron

Not a lot of defense, but certainly some good pieces. Mike D'Antoni would be salivating, plus they would officially become Clippers East

Knicks wind up with
Chandler/Petro/Jordan
Humphries/Harrelson/Jeffries
Melo/Fields/draft pick?
Morrow/Shump/Douggie
Lin/Farmar/Bibby

That team would play a lot of defense, and have good shooters/spacers. Nets would have a star combo of Amare/Deron, Avery Johnson would probably get Amare up to 8 boards a game. Nets should be looking to trade BroPez for a center that fits Johnsons stubborn ways better anyhow.

A pipe-dream option would likely be Josh Smith, we could also take on Marvin Williams contract (7.5ish million expiring next season). Shumpert being injured, Douglas having no value, no draft picks and Fields contract status get in the way of us adding much incentive, but it is possible that a sure-thing Amare would be better for them and their franchise than either overpaying/losing Marvin and losing Josh Smith/going through free agent drama. Hypothetically: Jerome Jordan, Amare, Douglas for Josh Smith and Marvin is a deal that would greatly benefit the Hawks for the duration of Joe Johnsons contract.

A fate worse than death, we could offer Amare to the Bobcats for Maggette, Kemba and Tyrus Thomas. Jordan gets a player to add offense to his franchise, meanwhile assuring his team pays enough in salaries. Amare's deal expires at the best possible time for them as they will be extending Biyombo, Henderson among other picks they make along the way. I snuck Kemba in this deal because the Knicks need a point guard, and the Cats SHOULD be building a team, not just being a revolving door by allowing Auggie to just walk

For the hammer reference go to the Bobcats forum on here.

You rollin' today, Rich.

Attacking with more attempts than you get in a triangle offense, I am pondering which part got the chuckle. Considering myself lucky I found that old Amar'e bit regarding breaking backboards from a few years ago on YouTube looking for something else. If it was the Bobcats reference, I give you kudos for knowing the RealGM forum. After visiting that forum, I wanted Hammers here. Hey, maybe Michael Jordan can trade the Hammers references here for Amar'e.
