#Pacers C Roy Hibbert wandered over to press row during a TO and mockingly made a reference to the #Magic dancing and celebrating in Game 1.
I flippin knew it... I knew it!
I said it a few days ago... Duhon's stupid travel dance (as "humorous" as it was) was going to come back and bite us in the butt... Indiana was going to use that as motivation to play harder... just like last year when Nelson said to D-Rose, "See you guys in the 2nd round" and Atlanta used that as motivation to smash us.
Our players don't use their brains much do they?
Obviously there are more prominent reasons why we are losing this series... but seriously, Duhon, you're not helping... on the court or off the court... please GTFO our team.
Freakin hate Du-Du... clown.
shouldn't matter, if our team could find the ability to play with some urgency. our guys just don't have the killer instinct, and i blame that largely on an offense built around high volume 3point attempts. if you're going to commit to an offense like that, then a player needs to learn to accept that you're going to make some and going to miss some. it's a lower percentage shot than a 2pt field goal, so our guys learn to accept more and more misses as just "part of the process". any other team, that didn't rely on those baskets, would be attacking the rim. they'd be making stuff happen. but we just keep doin what we do.
you can try to blame the personnel all you want, but Stan made a point of limiting JRich's 3's earlier in the season, to get him back in form. he could do that with any player at any moment - but he doesn't. Stan is just as guilty of being complacent as any of our players, despite all his screaming and shouting.
+1
Hey I agree with everything you said, especially the part about Killer Instinct. I don't discount anything you said (look at my posts afterward, and in the "This is what we need to do" thread). That's why I broadly said,
"Obviously there are more prominent reasons why we are losing this series". I know our team losing is not solely because of the dancing, but it's also just irritating to witness as a fan. The main problems are obviously coming from the FO with Otis, and obviously from the coaching. But we also don't have the players that have the capability to be mentally tough and to handle the pressures when the going gets tough. I just wanted to specifically vent about that ONE situation (stupid dancing and Pacer players using it as motivation), and also (once again) express my dislike for Duhon. I knew the Pacers would see that dumb stuff and get mad over it. Players feed off of that stuff, the ones who are mentally tough and motivated. Unfortunately our players don't feed off of it, because they are soft.
We can't discount other teams' players using stuff like that for motivation against us (we see it all the time, we saw it last year with the Hawks and the year before with the Celtics), all the while our team continues to be soft and not retaliate with the same angry motivation back at them. They get stepped on. We see Pacer players celebrating all the time, and our team does nothing when they see it. It just irks me. At least do something... fight back a little, you know? Don't just shrug your shoulders when you're down by 15pts and go "aww shucks, we lost, I give up." The body language is terrible on this team.
Honestly, where's the pride and backbone? We have none.
