Dallas isn't going to touch that contract. They're going after Williams and Howard.

ATL may finally be ready to move on from Smith. A Smith and Williams for AMar'e swap is our best chance. Indy may think it needs a better scorer at the PF position than David West. Indy is under the cap this summer so we could send them more than they send us. West+filler for Amar'e gives Indy a top-line PF, it gives us a PF who better fits our team, both have serious injury concerns so neither team is adding significant risk, and it gives us a tiny bit of cap-space to offer Novak more than the minimum and make other slight improvements.
At the end of the day Amar'e still is a "star" he can bring box office attraction and we saw he can put up prolific numbers as a #1 option on a treadmill team as evident by the 2010-11 Knicks. Some team will be interested in that for the same reason Marbury was able to be traded to us, Iverson traded twice for good value, and even Monta Ellis was traded for a decent return even though he has never been involved in winning anything.

i really think josh smith is a horrible fit next to melo and tyson ... what you get with those three is three guys who want to play near the basket. and i like josh smith. he is very, very talented. but i don't see how he would work. he is best when he plays big. so is melo. really, jsmoove is the only other three in the league i would consider a "power three"
They need to trade Stoudemire, a guy who fit with the Mike D'Antoni Knicks of Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler and Raymond Felton, a guy who no longer fits with the Mike Woodson Knicks of Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler.
...
So the Knicks can find some fabulously rich and restless owner to take a shot on Stoudemire while returning a good-not-great player who would work inside the margins of Melomania. Oh, and this should be made clear: All in all, Amare isn't a bad guy, just a bad fit.
He should be thanked for the pre-Melo memories, and sent on his way.

I think Smith is a great fit for us. He is a combo forward who plays offense like a SF where-as Carmelo is a SF who plays offense like a PF.
Everybody knows Smith loves the 3 point shot no matter how terrible it is for his game, sit him in the corner, let him shoot 3's while Melo iso's.

josh smith didn't like iso joe and I am sure he will hate iso melo just as much... woodson and smith got into it a bit.. woodson didn't like josh long range scud missles... not a good fit I think...
