I know all of his credentials have been posted on the website more than once, and how the bulls medical staff has been bashed to some degree on the board. They have gotten return/expected dates wrong and missed the Deng injury. Deng injury was likely missed by the radiologist, not Dr. Cole specifically.
Now what derrick is getting is surgery (duh, i know) and Dr. Cole is the best of the best for that. Maybe he does not have the exercise kinesiology experience, I dont know, but he knows surgery. My roommate is a future orthopedic surgeon, and I had another well known orthopedic surgeon as a guest in our house the past weekend. Both speak highly of him. In fact, our guest, orthopedic surgeon himself, flew in just to get his own knee evaluated by Dr. Cole which he injured playing soccer and had failed surgery before. so in conclusion, in Dr. Cole, I trust.
If it was my ACL which was torn, I would be more than thrilled to get Dr. Cole as my surgeon because I don't need to play basketball at the NBA level. But, Rose needs a second/third opinion on the process of the surgery. He is also better served getting operated by a surgeon who understands basketball ACLs than just soccer or normal human being ACLs and who has the experience of operating on another NBA ACL. There might be one or two surgeons of those types in the US.
I might be wrong but I doubt Dr. Cole has done ACL surgery on a NBA player. It might be a little bit of paranoia but that tiny difference might be a big deal in having issues like Tracy McGrady, Arenas etc...or back to being a stud.
Also, I am not sure how much trust Rose/GarPax have in the staff even if there is a slight belief that this happened because Rose was compensating for his other injuries and he wasn't shown the right path.
