Man, I feel bad for him regarding his son! No parent should have to endure that! It could also be an interesting proposition, However highly unlikely considering how he, along with kobe are said to despise the suns! But with that being said,I always liked his versatility!

And it could be very productive to have a player with his skillset playing in the open court with nash? Kinda like a more athletic version of boris diaw perhaps.

For my part, I personally would rather see our team be in the lottery for years than to ever bring in one of the dreaded fakers players or spurs for that matter!

That being said, He does have talent still. I wouldn't mind if we could get in on some sort of trade where he gets flipped to another team, and we get a marquee player in return for helping to facilitate the trade somehow?

If Phoenix wanted someone like D. Williams from Minnesota and a veteran PG (Ridnour or Barea) for him, they could get that for Gortat in a heart beat as well.
Gortat is worth more than the #2 pick and less than the #1 pick. It's pretty much that simple.

Every indication is that the Blazers want to use their picks in a trade to get some immediate help, and then dive into free agency, and then at the end of all that re-sign Batum. They aren't interested in rebuilding while they have an All-Star power forward in his prime.

Gortat for their 2 draft picks, with the idea that we will also S&T Nash to them for Hickson.

Nash/Matthews/Batum/Aldridge/Gortat

That would leave us with #6/#11/#13 to rebuild around. Brooks/Lamb/PJ3/Hickson/Drummond.

That would be a truly beautiful thing for us at this point! That's also a damn good deal for them as with the bad luck they've had with draft picks would indicate! At least this way they'd be almost a lock for the western conference finals,If not a deep playoff run to say the least!

I say if it really looks like nash is gone(obviously!) We go for it! Just think, this deal would give us the very best chance of landing in the top 3! As well as jumpstart the rebuild exponentially as opposed to having to wait till next year for our next lotto pick!

We might even be able to land shabazz muhammed, or nerlens noel with what our record would be too. that's alot of blue chippers on this team! fastest rebuild ever!(well next to thunder that is!)

Boris Diaw, really?

Out of all of the things to anger Steve Nash, the Suns apparent lackadaisical pursuit of free agent Boris Diaw has angered the star point guard the most. Thursday afternoon, Nash for the first time openly discussed leaving Phoenix as a real option when he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2012 on a radio interview with Dan Patrick. Nash even mentioned the Miami Heat as legitimate signing option. According to the NYPOST, the Suns weak effort to sign Diaw has driven Nash over the ledge. The losing, terrible signings and poor strategy were secondary factors, apparently.

He strongly suspects Nash might have been pushed over the edge by management’s alleged apathetic pursuit of free agent Boris Diaw for the team’s final 18 games. among other things,I would pay close attention to the underlying tones of babbys' message to the front office. Where he indicates there is a distinct possability that they won't use their capspace this offseason.

But remember, Nash already put them on notice to make BIG improvements. And IF they don't spend this offseason? Does anyone really think nash will stay with the team even remotely as is? Babby and blanks surely know this, So that's why they keep indicating that this "transition" ie.(rebuild) will take longer than expected! So they preach patience!

I mean if you think about it, If nash was staying, Or there was anyone they really thought they could get to convince him to stay, then they would have just said what they used to say! "nash will be back with the suns! Because they have plenty of money to get (within reason) whoever he asks for in free agency!

But they keep mentioning how their unlikely to spend much! So wich big name are we gonna bring in to keep nash if we don't spend much? It just doesn't sound good when you put it all together.

Suns' 'prudent' plan doesn't bode well for keeping Steve Nash

Keeping Steve Nash just got much tougher for the Phoenix Suns if president of basketball operations Lon Babby is to be taken at his word.

In an interview with Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic, Babby said he'll be "prudent" with use of $23 million in cap space to sign free agents in July.

Even though Nash loves Phoenix, he told USA TODAY Sports last month that he wanted to play for a championship contender or he'd reluctantly move on.

The Suns (33-33) missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season after advancing to the Western Conference finals in 2010.

"There's a distinct possibility that we don't use our cap room this summer," Babby told The Republic. "We've worked hard to put ourselves in this position to have this kind of flexibility, to have a range of opportunities, but I'm absolutely determined that we are going to be disciplined in how we approach this because we cannot get ourselves right back in the same spot we were in by doing bad contracts, not assessing value properly, not making the right choices in terms of personnel."

I'd rather trade Gortat for #11 and keep our pick instead of #13 and Gortat for #6. That would give us two lotto picks plus a likely top 5 pick next year with cap space.

Heres one of them, let me see if i can find the others:

The Phoenix Suns held a luncheon with the media to close out their season and the biggest topic discussed was the situation surrounding Steve Nash.

The Suns had offers and options to trade Steve around the trade deadline, but stood by their promise not to trade Nash, who asked the team to stay the course with him.

In return, they are going to get a chance to either re-sign him to a new deal – sources say there has been talk of a two-year, $20 million contract – or they will get the chance to sign-and-trade him and get something in return.

Nash has downplayed his desire to chase a championship ring, but the truth of the matter is the 38-year-old All-Star point guard is the answer to a lot of problems in a lot of places.

Steve will have his pick of situations, but continues to tell people that returning to Phoenix, where his career has flourished, remains a real and viable option.

If the Suns can make some moves in and around the draft and really add some help to the roster, getting Nash back is a bit more than probable, mainly because they can and will offer a lot more money than most. However, if the rumors of an agreement to do a sign-and-trade are real, that might not be as much of a chip in Phoenix’s favor as once believed.

Nash has said he’d like to play for at least three more years – the question is will anyone invest major contract dollars into a player that turns 39 years old in February?

By himself, no, i dont think so either. But if the Blazer FO were assured that we would trade them Nash in exchange for Hickson, then yes i could see them doing it.

So it would be Nash/Gortat for #6/#11/Hickson. But it would be split in 2 separate trades to make it work financially.

Make that Portland deal with Gortat for Hickson/#6 and throw cash at McGee, instead of matching for Lopez?

I'd rather overpay for McGee and hope the Nuggets don't match, than have Lopez @ $7m Per.
