all of that is true, but irrelevant.. that play to bibby was huge.... I never thought he would get wade to commit make the pass and bibby hit that shot, especially when everyone has been struggling all day... it was huge....

yea, I don't think they get it... I mean jeez, everything can't be about melo.. LOL

I really liked how JR used that fake dribble to the right.. it really made wade commit, because wade was hedging a bit and he made the right pass, he had to make wade commit enough so that he could not recover to bibby..we know how those guys can cover ground...

no you are not making sense, I said it gave us a cushion, one of three points, the worst that could happen was a tie... of course you want to somehow tie this back to carmelo making this happen, but it was a very good basketball play by JR.. plain and simple..... I never said we were not tied... what are you talking about..

if you can't see how going up three at at that point was probably the biggest play and turning point of that quarter, then really I have nothing more to say..

Im just trying to understand ur logic...JR play to bibby put us up 3 with 1:23 left
Melo 3 put us up 3 with 54 seconds left and the worse that could happen would be a tie as well? How are u not getting that? it gave us the same cushion it just happened later in the game which would make it more important no? please see below

1:23 81-84 Mike Bibby makes 23-foot three point jumper (J.R. Smith assists)
1:23 Miami full timeout
1:15 LeBron James makes 24-foot three point jumper (Dwyane Wade assists) 84-84
0:54 84-87 Carmelo Anthony makes 26-foot three point jumper

ok man.. melo play was the greatest... I give up... jeez

if you can't understand the beauty of that play with JR and bibby, I just can't help you.. I am sure you want me to say that melo saved the day.. Jeez man the knicks are more than just carmelo... appreciate the play by JR and bibby, it was great basketball... the knicks offense was stalling a lot of plays, JR made a great basketball play in that he got wade to commite.... the pas to JR from carmelo was damn near stolen if you forgotten... JR made a heady play.. bibby a Huge shot... it put us up 3, it gave way for carmelo to have an opportunity to make big shots late.. plain and simple...

I am not trying to tell you melo's play was the greatest...but I was simply debating your arguments for the reason it was the biggest which were wrong which i stated above.

now if you want to say was it a great "team play" it sure as h*ell was...it was nice to see JR look for the open man and he has it in him he just needs to do it more than settle for his chucks.

I remember the play melo was drawing the double, he passed the ball the JR, chalmers had to get back to him because he was doubling melo...JR took it to the hoop and wade had to help. he kicked it to bibby for the 3...it was a great team play. I agree

im not making it about melo...seriously. And i do get it

Just a question...why did wade have to commit...because melo passed out of the double with chalmers coming at him...chalmers had to retreat to his man (JR) and got a finger tip on the pass but didn't recover enough

so JR had a step and took it to the hole. at that point JR either goes into the layup if the defense doesn't collapse or kick it out if they do...wade collapsed to help out because chalmers was beat of the dribble. Bibby hits the 3...big shot!

Also, hopefully Woodson realizes, that little rest for Melo at the beginning of the 4th, meant everything down the stretch.

it was huge...but he was smart he let amare stay in for those couple minutes and have the knicks run P&R....we should always have either melo and amare on the floor to run the offense through them. it opens up things for our role players like novak, jr, and bibby for shots so they don't have to create themsevles

I thought the biggest play was when JR ended up stealing the ball from Bosh off a rebound, steps back, and nails a 3. Thats when I thought the Garden got back in it, and it just seemed like from there is where the team picked up all the momentum.

You're analyzing the mechanics and development of the play. I am specifically referring to the timing and the people responsible. Once Bibby hits a 3pter, he now becomes a factor in the offense, which gives Melo and Amare more room...Melo hit a three next time down...who says it's not because the Heat can no longer send a man to double, etc...?

But I'm not discussing that. I'm simply saying at that point of the game, Bibby's 3pter was needed and he came through.

Seriously, this is so TRUE

Probably.. It certainly won't match the negative attention he got last few games.. Nor will people recognize that Stat and Melo both played well together.... [Or take into account how they did it with Melo Stat Tyson and scraps....]

Hell, Novak is near useless, JR is worse than useless, we have no PG, no Shump, basically no Jefferies... And we are able to beat a championship favorite heat team -- not too shabby... But again, this one will be chalked up as an anomaly, etc and it'll be about Lin more than anything else.. Or just ignored all together by people like Barkley or Coward.

of course it was needed! who ever said it wasn't needed. I do however think you are over thinking the heats defensive scheme just cause bibby made 1 three i don't think the heat are to concerned about letting him beat us.

regardless it was a big play in the game no doubt....so was the melo turnaround jumper with 2 minute s to go with the knicks down 2 over lebron (81-79) and so was Melo 3 later in the game tied at 84 a piece. So was amare's defense on bosh the play after where he made bosh sh*t his pants and throw a backcourt violation.

there were a lot of equally as big or bigger plays in my eyes

Are you guys really arguing over whether 3pts is a greater play than 3pts?

Amare made multiple plays
JR made a big pass to Bibby
Bibby made a big shot
Melo made some huge shots and answered the bell for the team late in the 4th

THEY WERE ALL IMPORTANT........NONE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE OTHER BECAUSE WE NEEDED THEM ALL TO WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you expect? We had people slamming players in the damn game thread, while they were winning the game.

People never, ever know when to stop around here.

I am really not sure why pharris is debating this.. I simply made a comment on how I thought JR and bibb's play was the biggest of the qtr.. not the game, or the year, or the century.. the qtr.. I really don't know why he insists on arguing this....

I only caught the last 5 minutes. It looks like Melo got his points on a fair number of shots. Would one categorize the teams play as "MELO Ball?".

i simply disagreed with the comment...i didn't think it was the biggest play of the game or the quarter. There were a lot of big plays...thats all

its a basketball forum if you can't debate whats the point :dontknow:
