If I was already a millionaire I'd have taken a 1/2 hr special on atleast a local TV to broadcast me giving a large cheque to the bank manager (who happens to be my maternal uncle).

That's what I'm worried about. I'm trying to diversify as much as possible. I opted to do some image analysis work this summer to learn more about filters and sharpen my programming instead of doing the more fun cellular work.

Learn one object oriented language (java or if you have patience, C++) and one scripting language (python or perl). Since you are in cellular biology, you can find a nice career in computational biology.
