whats even more depressing is if dwight didnt get hurt it would probably be a magic 76ers ECF :(

Sorry, but we wouldnt beat Miami, we dont have anyone to play D on Wade and LeBron.

I would rather have 22 mil in Anderson(6)and Harden(16) than 30 in Monta(15) and JSmith(15) just saying....

Biggest News Of The Off-Season By Far
“I’ll play in the NBA as long as I can,” said Scalabrine, who’s working the Celts playoffs for CSN now that the Bulls have been eliminated. “I’ll get cut one day. That’s just the only way I can really go. To just retire would be like quitting to me. They’ll have to kick me out.”

At 34, he has had ample time to consider his hopes and options. During his five years in Boston, Scalabrine seemed to go back and forth on whether he’d pursue coaching. But that now seems like his direction.

I agree I really like Josh Smith but there is just something about him that screams inconsistent and terrible shot selection that makes me nervous. I would rather they both agree to take 14 per but I get the feeling Harden will give OKC a bit of a hometown discount and stay, although that would mean Ibaka is probably gone

9. Pritchard works his Magic and follows that move up by trading JJ|Baby|picks to Mil for Ellis|1st
10. Magic sign Nash for MLE
11. Magic match Anderson
12. Magic do not bring back Ish or Orton

Starting five: Nash|Ellis|Hedo|Anderson|Dwight

Primary bench unit: Nelson|Ellis|Liggins|Earl|Dwight

9th man getting 12mpg: Darko

I'd like to see Anderson and Ellis each average between 34-36 mpg and for Liggins and Earl to earn a full time spot in our rotation, with Harper competing hard on Earls heels. Not sure what we draft with the Bucks pick but I'd prefer a PG.

So yeah I was bored but this would be an interesting team. Biggest question mark would be Liggins or QRich compensating for the loss of JRich (who swung between SF/SG), and Earl, Harper, or Darko compensating for the loss of Baby. Baby and JRich are veterans that can still make major impacts but I think the weaknesses their loss creates are nullified by the gains in Ellis and longterm financial flexibility. Going from our best wing being JJ to Ellis is a clear upgrade IMO, and gettting Nash for the MLE is the best bang for the buck.

Not bad, except no thanks to D'Antoni and our back court has zero defense.

Why do people want to hire D'Antoni? Dude is an awful coach. His up-tempo offense sounds exciting, but we really don't have the pieces to run it as well as they did in Phoenix and he is an awful in-game coach. If you think SVG is stuborn, wait until you get a load of Pringles.

Did you intend have 2/5 of our starting lineup play primary bench roles as well?

To be honest, there are perhaps 10 guys deserving max salary in NBA today and we have one of 'em here in blue and white.

In my opinion Harden's value is in the next group of elite players that are around $14M, while JSmith contract is next level below, players getting $10-12M.

That would all be good contracts for any team to have solid core of 1st, 2nd and 3rd option with great offense and defense, while keeping enough flexibility to sign good role-players with remaining cap space of $25M+.

In old CBA, good contracts were rarity, as you have to overpay to get or keep a player. I like what I saw so far in new CBA, where role-players such as JR Smith or Jamal Crawford aren't getting overpayed long term deals.

Naturally, no CBA in this world can turn bad GMs into good ones, thus overpaying Chandler, DeAndre Jordan or JRich happen.

I agree. I created a thread with these ideas named money ball. It was a while ago, but we are on the same page with your view on players and salaries.

^ agreed but when you have 8 or so teams every offseason with max player capspace you are still going to have vastly overpaid players. When a regime has 3 years to prove they are moving in the right direction and a fan base looking for results GM's are going to try and make the splashy FA play. That is why you will see Eric Gordon get close to the max, Hibbert will probably get the Max, Brook Lopez and Mcgee will most likely get 12-14 and so on. That is the problem when there are more teams with space than players worthy of the dough, and seats needing to be filled, also poor front offices and small markets will always have to overpay to bring in big time players.

100% with you. I just hope our new front office does not fall into this horrible trap, especially if Orlando has to go the full rebuild route

Throwing a max at Harden is plausible. I was thinking of front loading his offer very early in the offseason since Ibaka is there on FA too, and it'll only take 3 days to wait. But I think OKC pays up. Maybe there is a S/T scenario, or sign and no match, if the Magic trade a player, pick for Harden at 15mil, instead of playing chicken on max offer sheets.

I wish we could just draft a "James Harden" or "Ibaka" caliber player

I am surprised about how slow these potential changes are moving along.

At some point, you have to give the new GM enough time to evaluate what we have for talent and what direction he wants to take this organization (in terms of talent and personel). I mean, what are we going to do? Hire a new GM two weeks before the draft and only give him 14 days?

Just venting my frustration.....

I'd settle for a Gortat caliber player.

What does everyone think of Royce White for a SF?

I really hope we are waiting for the Pacers to finish so we can grab Pritchard and Shaw.

ok i'm about 80 percent sure we're staying put with all this time we're taking.....just break up already....whoops....i mean just fire those guys already.....it takes this long to fire them? how long will it take to find replacements....knowing us and our shoddy ownership and front office we'll go into the draft with no coach or GM lol.....
