I think if Lowry gets traded that Dragic would see that as a sign of respect and give Houston extra consideration for handing the starting spot to him. If Lowry is still there however then I see Dragic going somewhere he can start

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft: Lottery Tracker, Draft Pick Discuss
why would HOU trade away a for sure starting quality PG away after everyone says it was his break out season in lowry just to persue a guy who is basically going to be sitting on the fence signing back to them in dragic? ive heard this agrument from a few people and it just doesnt make sense to me

because i don't think houston could go a whole season with both lowry and dragic in the backcourt.

I'll answer the first part of that two part question.
Why trade Lowry? A classic case of trading high.
There are A LOT of point guards throughout NBA history who have one (or two) great year before sinking back into a lesser role (e.g. Mike James not so long ago had a 20ppg season). The Rockets have seen it numerous times first hand. For example, although obviously happy with Dragic I wonder how much more they could have gotten had they traded Aaron Brooks when he was at the peak of his hype rather than waiting until a trade had to be made. Remember, in 2009-10 he averaged 19.6ppg (on solid shooting numbers, at least from the outside (.432 FG%, .398 3P%) and 5.3apg. They ended up trading him during an injury plagued season in which his scoring numbers dropped to 11.6ppg on a stomach churning percentage (.346 FG%) and it was questionable whether he was still the team's best point guard. If the Rockets are convinced that they can and will keep Dragic then history, even this example of recent franchise history, suggests that it may not be a bad move.

If you are POR, why would you trade assets away for a player when you could sign a similiar player with available cap space?
If you are smart you wouldn't....
Go after Dragic, Hill, Brooks...guys you can get without having to give away assets (picks/players).....Unless you are trading for a tier 1 type of PG then all you are doing is wasting assets...

Well, before his bacterial infection Kyle Lowry was playing like an all-star, flirting with triple doubles. I think he is more composed than Dragic, who is always in attack mode and fouls quite a bit. I would rather we don't give Dragic 7-9mill and just trade our 11 pick for Lowry straight up.

May 30th is gonna be a rough day for Bobcats fans. They're in the history books as the worst team ever and they'll more than likely miss out on the #1 pick, which is the only projected franchise changing player in this draft. All that losing and not getting the #1 pick will be brutal.

I am surprised more people from 1-11 aren't excited about the brow he is as franchise saving player as I can remember I am glad we at least have the 11 pick because that's the highest team to ever win the lottery (1992 Chris Webber) I mean GSW Raptors Bobcats Wizards Hornets Nets kings Pistons and Blazers should all be excited cause u never know...

Too bad they can't measure his heart of brain. I love that kids talent, but his attitude/competitiveness scares the hell outta me.

His BBIQ is actually one of his listed strong points (I didn't watch enough Connecticut to say), but his motor does scare me. But if we get the Nets pick and Beal, Robinson, and Kidd-Gilchrist are gone? I'd be real tempted to take him over Barnes/Sullinger and definitely Perry Jones.
