What is on Brian Colangelo's mind going into the draft?
Needs a player who can go get to the basket when his team needs a bucket. That's why I moved Dion Waiters to No. 8 in my mock. I think he's a good fit for them.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

And he answered: Yes. Lamb is closer to DeRozan. I think Waiters can even play some point at the next level.

Well done gents. I really feel getting those questions in was the product of our collective will.
Ford was really thoroughly seduced by Waiters' workout, huh?
And yeah, I don't understand the DeRozan/Lamb comparison for a second.

I don't know if Ford knows the Raptors, but he sure don't know Lamb. At all.

Lillard. I think he's somewhere between 6-13. Marshall between 8-20

The more I read and watch these prospects, I think this is a really good draft from 7th-15th. The guys I wasn't necessarily big on seem like good bets to be efficient role player types, who can spread the floor on offense with their jump shooting and bring something to the table defensively/athletically. I think after Davis the 2nd tier is actually about 17 players deep, with the DX top 16 all being part of it, minus Austin Rivers and with Waiters, Moultrie and Leonard climbing, the first due to advanced stats and the latter two being big and athletic. http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/
I haven't seen Lillard, but it's hard to see what's wrong with him, and if he as the work ethic, athleticism, intelligence, maturity and shooting ability he seems to, it's hard to see how he wouldn't make at least a nice spot up shooter and average PG at the 1. Ross appears to be a really nice shooting prospect, and that's coming from someone who thinks he's the 4th best SG prospect after Lamb, Beal or Waiters, since he's not particularly long or a good passer. But he played well with Wroten not being a real PG and dominating the ball, and is supposedly a great athlete. If he can guard people and hit 40% of his 3's, he'll be fine in the NBA.Terrence Jones seems like has nice stretch 4 potential, hitting a third of his 3's both years and possessing an awesome, gigantic wingspan. He can pass and showed he can adjust his game to help his team win. If he can develop his mid-range jumper like Brandon Bass, he could be like a thicker, shorter Odom once he settled into being a #3 and P+R defender, which Casey should be well equipped to teach. If Jonas V. can also pass and hit a mid-range jumper, you've got good floor spacing and ball movement as long as the perimeter players aren't also black holes.
I'd love for us to find another pick or two, even. Derozan and James Johnson are going to be RFA's after next season, so we'll have to pay them whatever the GM who likes them the most and has cap space will offer, so they lose a lot of their value as assets.
I think JJ is only a corner 3 away from being a decent role player (he creates turnovers and rebounds, is bad at everything on offense basically) but if he starts hitting 3's, someone will offer him at least the mini-MLE. If not, he's not really going to help us win. So, either way, he's not a great deal anymore.
Derozan is the same. If he plays well, he'll get a 7-8 per year offer from someone, and then he's not really an asset anymore. We could just sign a replacement for that 7-8 million. These guys will either perform well and drive up their value (and again, just one GM of the many, many who will have cap space after next season has to see their value as having gone up, and since they're young, someone will probably pull a Colangelo on Amir deal and offer them a healthy figure) or play badly and if that's the case, It's hard to see why losing them would hurt.
I'd love to see something like Derozan/Johnson for the Mavs 17th pick if they're desperate to add a rotation guy ready to play now for cheap, or a similar move with one of the Rockets picks or the Magic's.
Alternatively, if the Raps move up to 2nd or 3rd (Can't pass on AD), trading the pick for the Portland 2 picks or something like that could also be good. Come out with Lamb and another nice prospect or something.
