I dont think that is entirely true. Sure Lamb at 185 and 6' 6" made it seem that he could only play SG but had he measured out with a larger standing reach I could have seen him spending some time at the 3 ala Vince Carter after a couple years in the league with added weight/muscle.

There were also zero previous reports on Lambs standing reach and with a 7' wingspan and 6' 5.5" measurement one would expect a larger standing reach. The main reason this is such a problem for me is that we already have a definite 2 guard in Demar Derozan who looks to have a very bright future regardless of some people opinions. I really don't see Lamb as a huge upgrade over Demar.

Dont get me wrong though I am a big Lamb fan and hope we draft him if we stay at # 8 but this team really needs a 1 or a 3. Drafting Lamb just creates a 6th man which can be useful but not ideal. Here's to hoping for a top 3 pick that we so desperately need!

average standing reach on a perimeter player is nitpicking. Lamb has good height and a great wingspan to be our future Sg.

I'm only scared of him being picked before we have the chance.

Lamb has the most potential of any wing player in the draft.

Almost every mock has us taking Lamb now...I'm worried about what GS will do though.
They might think Thompson and/or Lamb can play SF.

I thought his standing reach would be a lot higher. This definitely changes things I thought he would be a minimum of 6'6 at the very least. Unless his shooting and handles are really good in the workouts I don't wanna draft this guy at all.

Why? Is Demar that good? I think we as fans tend to over value our own players. Thus far, he hasn't shown enough to warrant influencing our draft pick. There isn't anybody on this roster that should be influencing the pick.

Should we trade Derozan or keep both?

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Aran Smith of nbadraft.net explanation of why he has the Raps taking Lamb in his mock

Like the Warriors, the Raptors already have a SG but would be able to move Derozan over to his more natural SF position. The Raptors are said to be high on Lamb and will consider him here if he's available. Lamb gives them another talented prospect who could potentially play either wing position.
NBA Comparison: Reggie Miller

2 writers from CBSsports.com have their mock drafts up and both have us taking Lamb
with analysis...

Jeff Goodman's Mock

The Raptors desperately need someone that can fill it up from the perimeter. As long as Lamb doesn't have to be "The Man," he'll be fine. Tremendous potential and he will give Dwayne Casey a much-needed sniper.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-o ... -draft-v30

Matt Moore's Mock

Crazy length for Casey to mold defensively and the ability to actually score. With the Raptors exploring moving on from Jerryd Bayles and Jose Calderon, they're going to need some backcourt scoring.

Another tired Lamb-DeRozan comparison, this time from Tim Chisholm:

He loses a bit of credibility for me there.

Interesting that he was unwilling to choose a superstar comparison for himself and went with one I'd never heard anybody mention yet before by referencing Jamal Crawford as the type of NBA star he feels he could be.

People keep saying he doesn't seem to realize how good he could be and that he's humble to a fault. That comparison all but confirmed it for me because it's a bit odd to hear a potential lottery pick reference a player like that. Jamal Crawford had a good career for himself and could have been a key contributor on some great teams if he was more efficient. Lamb seems like he is more efficient. I don't see the passing ability that Crawford had but I suppose the lankiness/crossover and J style makes a little bit of sense. Asking any young player what star they most closely resemble is a loaded question though. Answer one way and you look like an arrogant prick. Answer the other and people wonder if you have confidence. Maybe he just doesn't want to sound too boastful.

The guy was raised by a pastor after all.

Alittle bit, but he seems like a humble guy, and damn those ball handling drills are nice, and is it just me or what, he's really got a small head.

Yeah, I just mean that laid back style John has, and that disgusted look they both always have on their face. And yes, his head looks like someone pushed from the top, and someone else pushed from the bottom. Bottom line: DRAFT JEREMY LAMB! :D

Is it just me or do his arms look a lot less skinny in this? Haven't seen him play in a few months but his size seemed a lot more questionable then than it seems to be right now.

No disrespect or anything, but Lamb looks like he got down syndrome lol. But I really like how he's working on maintaining his dribble low by doing those crossover through a mini-hurdle. That's going to be key for him at the next level.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

From what I saw from this limited clip, he has a pretty good frame and already has better handles than Derozan. At 8th, it would be hard to complain about picking him.

I didn't wanna post it but that's exactly what I was thinking about in the clip :o
