There's no way it's us and I highly doubt it's from a team before us. If he did get a promise I imagine it's 10 or later.

If it were us, and we did DD, Ed and Jose for Iggy + 15 and picked him 15th, That would be great.
Get Lillard at 8, spend cash at Dragic and Nash.

Nash/Lillard
Waiters/Iggy
Iggy/JJ
Bargnani/Amir
Val/Gray

We'd be looking at 8-6th in the East next year for sure.

I would put us at the bottom of the likely teams to promise Waiters at this point.

Source?

Say it is us, why does this necessarily mean that Derozan is out? If we do have a trade in place perhaps the other team has requested Waiters.

But if Philly wants DeMar rather than a pick, and would prefer to keep the 15th for depth, an alternate scenario is easily arranged.

A deal like Demar/Davis/Calderon for Iggy would be atrocious for Philadelphia. To everyone else Demar is a medicore swing with a 12.8 PER in his 3rd season. He's also the last type of player Philadelphia needs and plays Evan Turner's position. Finally, he has to be paid in a year. If Demar got included in that PHI source's trade, it would be #8, Demar, Davis, Calderon for Iguodala and #15. That's a fair trade.

Demar can't replace an 8th overall pick, I'd bet against him replacing a 20th overall pick. To everyone else he's the way we see Gerald Henderson. C level high volume guard on a bad team who has to be paid soon. How quickly would we laugh Charlotte off the phone if they offered Henderson for #8.

I've raised that possibility in this thread.

Haven't seen a peep on Twitter from any of them. Would be nice to get some insight into how the Raptors are thinking, though I know that's unlikely anyway.

No agent would ride on a promise from us with all the talk of us trading the pick,

I don't see that at all. It doesn't matter what real or false signals we're sending out about trades, and for that matter, Waiters could be picked at #8 for another team with whom we have a trade.

I always lol @ people who think we have the assets to get anything worthwhile back. No one wants any of the crappy players on this roster. The only one with some intrigue to teams is Jonas. DeRozan sucks and is coming off a year where he was expected to improve but didn't. He has nothing to contribute to a good team right now, he has a one dimensional game (scoring) and he can't even do that well (very very inefficient). Bargnani is a laughing stock in the league, only a team with a dominant C like Orlando would even consider trading for him. Ed Davis is trying to prove himself he can be a rotation player in this league on a good team. These are very mediocre players. Packaging them together is like piling crap upon crap and hoping to get something good in return.

Get real. If I was a fan of any other team, I wouldn't want to touch anyone on this roster with a 10 foot pole.

I also heard Lamb has a top 10 promise...

Also Stein and Ford cited at the end of their article yesterday that...

"But if the Raptors decide, in the end, not to make a draft-night deal and keep the pick, they're expected to focus on the top guards that could be available at No. 8. Sources say that Toronto is intrigued by Syracuse's Dion Waiters, UConn's Jeremy Lamb and Weber State's Damian Lillard."

If we keep the pick its one of those 3 with Sullinger and P. Jones as long shots barring
anyone of the top 7 slipping.

Like others have cited if it us a) we keep him b) DeRozan is traded

I don't think Colangelo wants to rely on 2 rookies having significant roles in his contract
year and having to dispose the 2 second rounders.

I think hes fine with Valanciunas and turning the 2 second rounders into a late pick who
would be a 10th man on the team next year.

I don't think Nash would be thrilled to play with 3 or 4 rookies either.

I think Rudy Gay or Andre Igoudala are a "worthwhile" return

I'm sure Brandon Knight felt pretty confident he wasn't slipping past 5 too.

Anyway, there's all this talk of if it is him, DeMar would be on the way out, but knowing BC he could view waiters as a combo 1/2. And, they may view DeMar as a 2/3 swing man.

I also have a really strong feeling that Casey won't start any rookies. Bayless and Davis coming off the bench last year is a sign of that

Two possibilities from my view:

1. We have worked out a deal with Philly for Iggy involving the #8 pick. Waiters takes the guarantee because he ends up in his hometown of Philly. But with Holiday, Turner, Williams... seems like an odd pick.

2. Its a team somewhere from 9-12. Waiters takes the guarantee because he likes the fit. Is going 7th or 8th any better if you like the team say at #12?

My best guess is Portland with the #6 and #11. They have guaranteed him #11, but have security higher based on how the draft is going.
