The Philadelphia 76ers select...

David West - 6'9 240 PF

We had a variety of guys here who we liked, and chances are David West isn't the best basketball player. But we love the inatngibles he brings: toughness and a leader. Melko and Gasol, while they have been in the playoffs, aren't looked at in the same light as West who is the ideal professional. He brings a big who can score on the block, but has one of the best jumpers in the game. Like I already said, he's tough and plays pretty good D.

Doesn't seem to be any serious interest in this pick, so....

The Atlanta Hawks select SG Marcus Thornton.

We were looking to add some more scoring to the lineup and there's no one better remaining out there. He was 5th leading scorer at SG with almost 19 PPG. At only 24 yrs old, Marcus fits our young, but experienced, lineup perfectly.

Thanks. I have always liked him. Not the best defender so I will need to pair him up with a stopper at the SF spot, but couldn't overlook a guy who can put up 25 PPG on any given night, at this point in the draft. There;s another guy I liked who's probably better overall player, but not on the same level offensively.

The Nuggets at this point are looking for best player available. We feel that player is OJ Mayo. We think he can play a James Harden esque, sixth man of the year role for us as he continues to grow as a player. Also in a small lineup, he will see some time as a SF giving us great 3pt shooting and scoring.

I was trying to trade up for Thorton. Wanted to put him at the 2 next to Deng with D Will.
