Indiana's not a southern state, and the only place I've ever heard anything like that is Indiana.

Republicans are usually anti-union... But they try not to antagonize powerful unions like the Police Officers Union...
So don't expect any wide-spread adoption of this.

Sounds like the Union pissed off the Governor and he passed a law that has almost zero chance of standing.

If it's real it's fluff-legislation that provides no real change to existing rules... Police officers that don't identify themselves when they enter a house, aren't police officers in the eyes of existing laws... But can you imagine proving that in court or convincing your average jury that the cop you shot in your living room, didn't identify himself?
No matter what the law says, the courts are stacked for the officers... Especially in the areas this is likely to happen.
If a cop got shot in a house in Beverly Hills, maybe the poor homeowner would be left alone to deal with his grief... I'm thinking the story would be very different in Watts.
