It depends on how well Wittman coaches, DCZ.
The Wizards had a 35-win roster without this trade IMO. If it turns out that Okafor and Nene play very well together, and Ariza plays more effectively than he has the last three years; this will really turn out well. Seraphin and Vesely can accept playing less minutes. Same with Booker, if he plays at all. The success of this deal will only come with the veterans playing and those same young guys playing lesser roles than they would have if the deal hadn't been made …. OR, Randy Wittman establishes play based on merit. If it turns out Seraphin is more of a beast than Okafor and Kevin gets the most minutes, and they win, then all is well. If Chris Singleton proves to be a better 3 and D player than Ariza and he gets minutes, and they win, all is well.
I think this was a panic trade and the Wizards should have improved their backcourt if anything. I don't think they needed to make a win-now move, and I can think of many better moves the Wizards could have made. No move would have been best IMO.
Now, it is up to Wittman to coach them up. Of course, more deals could be on the way. I think Booker could be on the trade block.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
