Charlotte has traded Maggette, meaning the only SF on their roster is Jamario Moon. Hoping this signals that they are picking MKG and it's Beal time in DC.

Pistons just traded B. Gordon to Cha for Maggette plus a future 1st pick, with protection clauses of course. Per Aldridge...

From ESPN:
The Detroit Pistons have agreed to trade Ben Gordon and a 2013 protected first-round pick to the Charlotte Bobcats for swingman Corey Maggette, a league source told ESPN.com.

The deal provides significant long-term savings for the Pistons. Maggette is in the last year of his contract that pays him $10.9 million during the 2012-13 season.

Gordon has two years, $25.6 million left on his contract, giving the Pistons a long-term savings of $14 million.

For the Bobcats, they get a much needed shooter in their backcourt. In a recent interview after a pre-draft workout, new coach Mike Dunlap told reporters that was the team's biggest need.

"Definitely, shooters," Dunlap said. "The ability to make the 3(-pointer) is really important because it allows you to play inside. What happens (in the absence of quality shooting) is the defense collapses and it gets crowded in there.

"It's always nice to have guys who can shoot a basketball."

EDIT: Doh! One minute too late...

I don't know. I hope you're right but the Cats need everything.

Cha wins here i think. Ben Gordon at least can teach Kemba how to play as undersized shooter. Plus they get the pic, I guess I read it wrong initially. Pistons are probably trying to sign someone big in '13.

I think MKG is their best bet, but they could just as easily take TRob still. This sort of eliminates them taking Beal, but we didn't think they would anyways.

Thank you, gesa. You saved me the trouble. In fact, I'd argue that boards like this one suffer more from group think because, unlike GMs, there's no consequence if our opinions turn out to be wrong.

I totally group think with you both on this one.

I would add that when people say a GM they are really taking about a entire team that includes the owner, scouts, coaches, etc. I'm sure any one of us could get any of those jobs easy.

Yeah, uh, Ben Gordon isn't good enough from stopping you from picking someone. He's been **** the last two season.

That deal just shows you how bad the Ariza/Okafor deal was.

With Gordon and Henderson on board, I'd say Beal is not in Charlotte's plans. They may still trade the pick to Cleveland, but they're not going to take Beal.

It's interesting that Detroit had to sacrifice a future 1st to unload $14M of Gordon's salary. New Orleans didn't give us squat for unloading $28M in salary.

True. It still amazes me we didn't get the #10 pick. That should of been the whole motivation for making the deal on our end.

Right. In fact WE included our #46 pick... which is a long shot but could of yielded a player like local products Hollis Thompson, Henry Sims, Kris Joseph, or someone like Scott Machado. Or we could of potentially packaged the 46 with the 32 and moved into the late 1st round!

Or we could just buy a pick from a team looking to trade out of the first round.

Blatche and the #3 to the Suns for Josh Childress and #13.

Classic Ernie!

Your Ernie impression needs a lot of work.

"Thank you all for coming.

We're very excited to be able to add Josh Childress. He's someone we've liked for a long time and we think he can help our team a lot going forward. He's very versatile -- he has good size and length and can defend multiple positions. He's a smart player, and we really value that -- he's a team first guy with high character."

Okay, I'm making myself angry...
