Fields is not a bad backup option for a scoring gurad off the bench if the better options don't pan out (Gordon, Batum...) As long as they arent commiting fore than a few mill & years I like Fields on the roster. He's probably the best SG on the team already if they signed him.

signing the trio of Batum, Fields, & Stevenson would do wonders to shore up the backcourt of this team.

Rubio/Barea/Ridnour
Fields/Stevenson
Batum/Johnson
Love/Williams/AR
Pekovic/Fab Melo

Thats a playoff team right there.

^^^ i could get on board with that. I'd rather have Ellington than Stevenson though.

Here's my aggressive off-season:

1. Trade Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour, Martell Webster to Philadelphia for Andre Iguodala
2. At #18, draft Quincy Miller
3. Trade Brad Miller's (somewhat) expiring contract to Sacramento for Chuck Hayes
4. Sign Grant Hill for an estimated $8M over two years

Roster

Darko Milicic
J.J. Barea
Kevin Love
Malcolm Lee
Nikola Pekovic
Ricky Rubio
Wayne Ellington
Wes Johnson

- Anthony Randolph
- Anthony Tolliver
- Brad Miller
- Derrick Williams
- Luke Ridnour
- Martell Webster
- Michael Beasley

+ Andre Iguodala
+ Chuck Hayes
+ Grant Hill
+ Quincy Miller

Ricky Rubio / J.J. Barea / Malcolm Lee
Andre Iguodala / Wes Johnson / Wayne Ellington
Grant Hill / Quincy Miller
Kevin Love / Chuck Hayes
Nikola Pekovic / Darko Milicic

T-Wolves already have two established pillars in Rubio/Love.

Finish the roster up with whoever as backups.

Reasoning why this is my off-season.

* Short-term, the above squad is a legitimate contender in the Western Conference. Home court/1st rd status, and with the potential to advance.
* Again, short-term, there is a stout defensive presence amongst the wings. Not only that, but Iggy/Hill also provide veteran leadership. Teachers to the young players.
* Groom Q.Miller behind two respectable wings in Iggy/Hill for 1-2 years. With his skillset + potential, plan for Miller to take off by year 3..
* Overall, plan leaves the Wolves with a core of Rubio/Miller/Love for the long-term. Plus any additional transactions that may occur between now and the future.
Bet on yourself and believe in yourself if everybody doesn't believe in you. F--k everybody else. What do they know? If you have a passion and you want to put the work into something, then chase it. If it means something to you, chase it.

I doubt Ridnour or Barea will be traded before the season, unless the team has a lot of faith in Lee. With Rubio gone the team can't afford to only have one legitimate point on the roster, especially since Ridnour went out with an injury last season.

Off would be an understatement. There are a lot of assets on your team I like, but the ones you suggested aren't the ones I'd expect for an offer like that.

Seems like most Minn fans think its good value, but monta is a bad fit next to rubio

Exactly. While Monta is easily the best player in this trade and thus the value itself is rather fair, I think, Monta is a bad fit next to Rubio. Adding Gooden doesn't help your cause, though.

This got bumped down a bit, but with the acquisition of Bud...I wonder if we will be moving Derrick for a SG or going to roll with Derrick playing a combo forward 6th man role?

Also here's a list of free agents from SI(the top 25).
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/w ... index.html

I think that Batum / EG would obviously be great fits...but other guys like George Hill, Mayo, Courtney Lee(not listed) would also be pretty good players. I'd even take a good look at Jeff Green if we moved Derrick.

I don't think it's a given Chase will start. He might, but it'll probably be a two way race between him and Williams, with Bud getting some minutes at SG as well and Williams getting some at PF.

The aggression has commenced! Any word on the Israeli kid playing for our summer league team at all?

Maybe we can deal Miller/Webster/Darko to a team for some cap relief for a pick? I'd still like a look at White or even Rivers or Sullinger if they drop.

Brand/15# or Haywood/17#

Heywood has that nice buyout where its paid over 20 years and Brand might be willing to accept a cheap buyout for a late career ring chase? Or both could be semi-useful bench players.

Way too expensive for purchasing a mid-first round pick. Brand is due $18M for next season. Haywood is due like $27M spread over 3 years. Miller + Webster + Darko are only due $6.7M if buyouts happen.

You can typically buy a pick in the 20s for 3 mil. I think what you are proposing is a bit expensive.

Let's not ruin our cap to move up a mid-rounder.

Charlotte got a limited-protection pick to take on Ben Gordon's 25 mil when sending back Maggs 11. That's 14 mil they paid to get a high pick.

Brand and Haywood make a lot. We'd need to get the right value back on a deal like that and for me it wouldn't be 15/17.

There was a time that you could, but that time has probably passed. 1st round picks have more value now.

I think we could go for Odom/#17 then the Mavs can amnesty Haywood.

Or Thunder may be looking to sell their first.

FYI

Comment From Rokas
Is Minnesota interested in Martin? If so, is it possible to acquire Beasley and do Rockets like him? If no, who would like to take Kevin in the end?

Jonathan Feigen:
Here's the deal with the Timberwolves and Martin. They won't offer much because they are pretty confident that they can get him as a free agent next summer.

Very interesting. If We got Crawford for this year, then that would free up space to sign Martin.
