Very accurate because he has great length and nice size but he has slow foot speed and lateral quickness.

I think with the overall lack of talented big men, he is going to shine. His game isn't in his athleticism. It's in his thought process. He can start one move, then switch to another without thinking about it. He is a ball player, instinctively.

Only one other big man I can think off hand that has his foot work...and that's Al Jefferson. 19th pick...and not to mention our team needs in actuality is everything currently.

If he is anything like Big Al, I'll welcome him with open arms.

Love this pick.

Had he played for a higher profile program he would have been a late lottery pick.
And I completely disagree that we have a logjam at the 4 spot.
I love BBD's tenacity and effort - and Ryno had a great season last year - but neither are true power forwards with a great back to the basket game.

This just opened up a real S&T opportunity with Ryno to pick up other assets and lower payroll.

Yeah, I'm not upset simply because there's nothing I can do about it but accept it and move on.

Interestingly enough, I wanna keep the guy since we picked him and definitely no longer want to trade him.

Wanna see him next to D12 now, seems like the gritty grimey kinda dude we need.

Like this pick. He can step out and shoot the three, but he really excels with his back to the basket. Good job Rob.

I really don't see him as a great player in the league and I don't think he is going to be a great post player like some think. Its easy to be a really strong post player when your 24 and play for St. Bona but I doubt he is that great in the NBA. I see him more of a face up four who will work on pick and rolls hitting the mid range more then anything. He is going to get eaten alive on defense because he was already a average post defender and I don't think he will be any better then that. I do love his length and ability to get rebounds and like I have said I think he is a good player just a weird pick.

I don't get this pick unless we are shipping out BBD or moving Harper over to the three spot and see if he can play there. Now I would be able to understand the pick if we are moving Harper to the three but he isn't going to be able to play defense on NBA threes. I remeber last year everyone on the board was really excited about Harper and his ability to get in the post and step outside. I think people are trying to fall in love with the pick because of our GMs background and high light tape. I will say again solid player bad fit.

You know what though i can't really complain about size i mean look at Anthony Davis he's probably lighter than Nicholson.....he still needs to bulk up though....what is he like 225?

Ok, let's put it this way. If you don't think he will have a back up game. Who else in this draft you think is going to have one? Henson? Anthony Davis? lol. You tell me!

The really weren't that many players in this years draft with a chance to have a decent back to the basket game. The only guys I really see being able to work the post is Meyers Leonard, Andre Drummond, and Tyler Zeller.

that highlight reel was great.

with his long arms, i could imagine a lineup with him and Dwight in it really wreaking havoc, depending on the matchup.

i like this pick. i'm excited to see where Rob goes from here.

so since he is only 22, not 24, does that change your mind?

Nicholson is a very good player and better than Harper. A lot of teams in the late teens and early 20s really liked Nicholson. That said, I still wish we had not taken a PF.

Marquise Teague would have been my pick.

He was born in 1989 and is 23 and by the start of the season will be 24, so not it doesn't really change my opinion. Like I have said solid player but just not a better player then some of the guys that went after him.

I didn't like the pick at first.
But watching those youtube highlights.... wow. Some impressive play there.
Being a college senior & a Canadian means he's likely to be more of a good locker room influence than a bad one.

If he can learn to play defense and has BBD's energy level then I think he could be a starter for us if we end up rebuilding (trading BBD & Anderson).

Hope that doesn't happen though.

I would have taken a chance on the guy with the bad back or taken a PG instead.

Not that invested in this debate, but that math just doesn't work out. I was born in 1988 and don't turn 24 until 12-29...
