Does the team HAVE to be built around a center? Why cant we trade him for some good wing players and a true PG? why does it have to be Lopez/bynum or no deal?/

Because a center alone can't win you a title and no one is giving up their wings for a guy who can't win them a title, especially since he says he won't resign anywhere, they'd have no time to rebuild their wings before he jets.

And who do wings want to play with... PG's and centers.
There's a saying in this world... it takes money to make money.
Well in the NBA it takes a superstar to get another superstar. We're seeing it happen on a yearly basis. If we get Bynum and cap space - then we are an attractive landing spot for future free agents.

If you automatically assume that a team with Bynum will be mediocre then I automatically assume that the tanking process will result in failure.

How about instead of just assuming you post some logic as to why a team based around Bynum + Cap Space will be stuck in mediocrity?

Because the capspaace will be used to sign someone like Iggy or Monta Ellis, with all due respect to these guys as they are awesome talents, but an Ellis/Bynum pairing or an Iggy/Bynum pairing is not getting close to the Heats and Thunders of the NBA, even with above average to good role players.

DeVos should sell the team then, because no team in the NBA is getting close to the Heat or Thunder for the next 5 years. If that is you're only objective then you are going to be very very sad for the next decade.

What is the point of playing basketball then? Unless you can get 3 big names you're not going to win anything? If your looking at straight up numbers and talent, 28 teams should just give up right now.

This is the big problem in the NBA, and it was clearly demonstrated when the Heat and Thunder both made it to the Finals, without Athlethicism and young players + star power, you are not going to get anywhere but a second round exit, or ECF at most.

losing a superstar player and getting back the #2 center in the league (that has a higher ceiling than dwight) and cap relief for 2013 with a gm at the helm making solid draft acquisitions? sign me up

Tell me, do you want to be stuck in mediocrity for the next couple of years, or tank get good players, in addition to the ones we would get in the deal from Houston and watch a great young team develp together from the start ?

What does "get good players" mean???
Everyone with a brain knows Bynum is the #2 center in the game. Why is it better to roll the dice on a 50-50 draft pick who has almost no chance of being better than Bynum?

Put it this way... other than Anthony Davis (and he isn't a lock yet either) what big men in the draft were better than Bynum?

Because Bynum would have us stuck in the middle of the pack ! Not good enough to win championships, and not bad enough to acquire great players via the draft, and last time i checked other than Bynum, the Lakers can't offer anyone that can be seen as a valuable asset that you can trade for other good players.

Not gonna lie, i actually like Bynum. Think his unsportsmanship is wrong that's for sure but other than those instances i actually like him.

But does Hennigan?

Cause really that's the big question, we know our new GM is a people person who values attitude and also player statistical analysis.

So what do you guys think?

Not much we can do will get us close to the Heat....they have THREE superstars bro. I hope that's not what you're measuring our moves this offseason and next on.

As for OKC, that's feasible down the road. They didn't have to trade for that team they have, other than Perkins of course. That team was built through the draft, which can also be done here. If i have to choose btwn Lopez and Bynum, i'm taking Bynum to build around everytime.

Metta has a 15% trade kicker and isn't an expiring (his '13/'14 season is an ETO which he would be highly unlikely to exercise). I don't see how taking him back in a trade makes any sense for us at all.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
