Maybe I am missing something, but I don't consider Ray and all-time great Celtic. He spent 5 years here. He's more UConn and Connecticut than Celtics IMO.

I don't care about legacy or anything. I care about winning. This one hurts, because it hurts us winning. But, if we traded him to Memphis and then he signed with the Heat, would that be the same legacy stainer?

At 37, he can do what he wants. I am more pissed off at the roster hole, but, it does open up a starting SG slot.

Bradley is the starting SG - if he misses the first month of the season or is ready by training camp. This does give the team the option of pushing Pierce down to the SG spot situationally, which will increase Green's minutes.

Oh right, because KG getting abused by Gasol had nothing to do with it, and the Celtics offense going to **** in the 4th quarter meant nothing...it was all Ray's fault.

There never would've been a game seven if Ray Allen would've decided to have shown up after game two.

Right, because Kevin Garnett and everyone else on the Celtics roster had a fantastic series. Seriously, Celtic fans were desperate for Ray to stay just 2 hours ago and now that he's gone he cost us a championship in 2010.

Sorry guys, don't really give a ****. This is best for our team. It's also best for Miami which is unfortunate, but signing someone just to shield a competitor from getting them is not the wisest thing to do. All Ray can do anymore effectively is shoot off of screens. When are people going to realize Jesus Shuttlesworth isn't playing anymore? Let Miami find that out the hard way when Wade gets hurt. An elite defensive team plugging Ray Allen in.....good luck guys.

Don't really hate Ray for it. Little douchey because it's the Heat but I think this is going to do nothing but good things for our organizations competitive drive the next few years. I'll be much more upset if we really are signing Jeff Green to a 4/40 contract.

It was a bad move for Ray, but Avery can get more time now when he is healthy. Terry gives us more flexability on offense than Ray, and Pietrus will have better health next year as the 4th backcourt player, which gives us great depth, even without Rat.

It's Ray's choice. I'm not mad at him, and I don't think there's any reason to be mad at him. But when we all look back on the great Celtics of this era, Pierce and KG will be on that list, and Allen will just be part of the supporting cast, a player who was a player on the Celtics but was not a Celtic. It stings a little, but such is life. I'm still excited about this season and feel that the Jason Terry signing gives us a really solid guard rotation as long as we can bring back Dooling and Avery Bradley gets healthy.

I'm a Heat fan but I think it would have been classy for Allen to stick with the Celtics and especially Garnett who anted up again to push for rings. You gotta remember how much older players have to go through to prepare for games - the stretching, treatments, etc. For Garnett, who is #12 on the all time list in terms of minutes played, to ante up again like that is inspiring.

I wondered how Allen would react to the Terry signing. You already had the question of how much Bradley would cut into Allen's minutes and now you'd have Terry there too.

In any event, one thing I know is the Celtics will be right there in the playoffs this year. I've got them as the #2 team in the East even without Allen and the greatest threat to unseat the Heat as EC champions. Lets all hope the Heat and the Celtics meet again in the EC championship this upcoming season. It'll be a series for the ages.

You do not know me. I absolutely bleed green and I am devastated that we are losing Ray Allen. You clearly just don't know Celtics history like I do. The LA Lakers are our rivals in case you forgot. It's a pretty **** thing that Ray is signing with the Heat but he is just not a lifelong Celtic, that's all there is to it.

And PS. I never hope for injuries to even my worst enemy as you have. That doesn't make me a tard. It makes me a good human being.

He's always been one dimensional and heartless. A ring chaser joining the team that 's shameless ring chasing during their primes shock and appalled all legends current and past living.

But at 3 million. That's the best contract in the NBA. Enjoy your second ring Ray. It'll be worthless.

Props to my girl Sami on that nickname. It was something she liked to say when Ray would attempt that random pass that was casually intercepted by the defense... that would leave you... just scratching your head.

So one cheer for Gay Allen everyone!

Thanks for the memories!

Really? Using "gay" as a synonym for "stupid"? Arent we as adults a bit past that kind of latent bigotry by now?

Hey look another Officer for the Control of Free Speech.

Gay airy, bouncing, frolicsome examples like the band was playing a gay tune and the gayest of the spring flowers... come to mind. Gay, sunny meadows... Merriam Webster... you know the dictionary... try using one.
