He'll have a really good team in Atlanta with him and JSmith + they'll have the cap space to add even more pieces in 2013 FA.

And i think the city of Atlanta would embrace a real charasmatic superstar after having the most dissapointing "superstar" guy in a Joe Johnson. Also his best friends play on the team! He's not gonna just leave them high and dry

I wouldn't be so sure about all this. I don't think hes shown any indication he wants to play for ATL even though it logically makes a lot of sense.

Ya but once he's there and he played full season where they go deep in the playoffs, its going to be harder for him to leave

Magic are getting strong-armed by Fegan. That's the only explanation as to why they haven't dealt with Atlanta or Houston yet.

If we weren't talking about Dwight, I'd agree with you 100 percent, but I honestly think he indeed would make himself the most hated player ever and leave the Hawks after one year.

I expect him soon to walk into Hennigans office, start crying, throw a hissy fit and destroy a bunch of office supplies until he pulls the trigger on the Nets deal.

But Hennigan needs to do what is the best for this team not for Dwight. Everybody know except a few ppl knows that Nets deal is bad, really bad. Even if you trade him to Hawks, then its their problem not his or his team.

Thats very true, but knowing that Dwight isn't interested in their team long term makes other franchises reluctanct to actually make serious offers for him.

I think they have a deal in place already, they just want to see what Nets/Magic deal is going up in flames. But Al will be in it.

Unless Howard suddenly is willing to take chump change, the only way he'll be a Net is if the Magic trade him to Brooklyn. Otherwise, Howards threats are empty. And I seriously doubt that money doesn't matter to him. He'll be looking for max 5 year renewal at the end of the upcoming season and unless the Nets can figure a way to dump contracts OR work up a sign and trade with the next team (possible) he'll be on some other team long term. I don't really think there is much of a threat for a team signing him losing him to the Nets without getting something back.

How do the Nets get him? Especially with sign and trades being banned for tax payers starting next year, the Nets have no cap space and no capabilities to get Howard if noone is willing to trade him there.

Oh that's right. Screw my previous post about signing and trading him after the 2012-2013 season with the other if the Magic trades him elsewhere.

Even if Dwight walks you still have no bad contracts and our picks to rebuild with.

Not even the Bulls.

And he's actually from Atlanta, born there, grew up there, drafted out of HS from there. And with them shedding Joe Johnson (lol) and Marvin Williams contracts they do have a good deal of caproom to add a 3rd piece to a Howard and Josh Smith duo.

As a Hawks fan, i hope the Hawks don't make the Horford for Dwight trade. i would rather let Dwight go to the Nets or Lakers and just allow the Hawks to have cap space for the 2013 off season, with Horford and Teague wrapped up for the long term and Josh Smith as an option.

but you dont know that Josh Smith would be probably be gone if we dont improve this lineup, right now this team need to take a risk and if they wrong they will see have all the cap space and they rebuild again.

+ 1 man. Brook Lopez on a max contract or near max deal would be a killer for many years.

Dwight Howard is not going to sign with the Nets for MLE. The Nets cannot sign-and-trade for him after the upcoming season. Unless he's got another spot in mind where he'd risk leaving over $25 million on the table (and if there's anything that he's shown is he will not), the Hawks has little to worry about him leaving them high and dray with nothing.

if Josh leaves, then that just mean that the Hawks will have more cap space to go after other free agents (or can make a cap saving trade with the Sixers or Griz for Iggy or Gay) or overpay a guy like Tyreke or Harden to go along with Horford and Teague

i personally think that Ferry will show Josh that he is committed to winning, and Josh will resign, but if he doesn't, the additional cap space of Josh leaving is still useful and valuable

How about a 3 team deal?

Lakers Get: Howard

Hawks Get: Bynum

Magic Get: Horford, Teague, 1st rounder.
