OK let me ask you honestly and without bias -- you don't think it's wrong for Melo to call a player who may still be on his team (we hope) a "ridiculous contract"? That's not being selfish and/or a bad teammate?

Oh for the love if pete, he called the contract ridiculous, not the player. Honestly get a hold of yourself. Youre going about a hundred miles an hour right now. Whats your blood pressure at? 220/140? Lol. The Knicks are still a top team so no reason to give into despair and jumping off the deep end. Yes they should have matched but they didnt (or most likely wont). If that happens then it happens. Unless youre planning to change from Knicksgod to Netsgod, or Rocketgod, or Heatgod, move on. Its not worth getting yourself crazy like this.

I'm sorry but we payed 120 mill for a lotto team. Excuse me if I don't give a **** how much he's getting paid.

I don't think it's the money, I think it's that he tried to milk the extra dollars out of us by telling Houston we were matching. But yeah, it does suck

Hahn saying some really respected coaches see Lin as a good backup. But he's still an asset.

@jwquick

Possible details of Blazers-Knicks deal could be Knicks sending Kostas Papanikolaou to Blazers and $$ to help pay for Jeffries' $3.1M salary
This guy is wrong more times than he is right so I wouldn't get too upset over anything he says until it comes from a reliable source.

I'm wondering if this deal has anything to do with the Minny deal for Batum. JJ could help cover the SF position for a year I suppose if Minny ever submits an offer sheet for Batum and the Blazers decide to not match.
Awesome! Knicks should keep trading every young player and asset they have so they can finish as the 8 seed and get swept by the Heat for the next three years! I'm thinking Shumpert + next year's first in a sign-and-trade for Juwan Howard next.

Melo's "ridiculous" quote, by itself, is not that bad. But put together with the fact that he apparently isn't making any effort to change Dolan's mind, suggests to me that Melo doesn't give a ****. Ultimately, we'll know a lot more in a few weeks. But don't be surprised if this is the first of many Melo quotes that arguably show his indifference to Lin.

Please, Dolan wants to match and loves the marketing and money he brings in, but let's be real, Melo and his camp are in his ear 24/7.

oh boy

??

How more obvious can it be?

If Melo wants to keep Lin then we'll see we matched by Tuesday. If not, then we know he didn't want him. It's simple as that.

Hahn: Jeremy better suited as a backup on this team. Has a false sense of entitlement.
There wouldn't be as much of a backlash if we chose Nash or CP3 over Lin. We're doing this for RAYMOND FELTON, for God's sake. For God's sake...
That's why even though we hated trading Gallo, it was worth it because we were getting Carmelo back in return. There's absolutely no reason why this should be happening.

So many people overreacting. I can't believe how temperamental some of you are. Over Jeremy Lin? It's that bad that some of you are going to abandon your Knicks fandom? I call BS!

I love Lin because Linsanity was fun as hell. He impressed us all and I think he'll be a fine player throughout his career.. but this guy is not a superstar. We've trusted Grunwald all this time and I'm not going to stop now. In this case, he has the right and the ability to evaluate Jeremy Lin and decide that he isn't worth that contract. Especially if he has elaborate plans for the future and is reserving some financial flexibility for the franchise (which could easily become something we wind up praising him for in the future).

Not to mention...this roster is sick...with or without Lin. The main reasons we are contenders is because of that beastly front line and the fantastic depth we now have at pretty much every position. I don't want to lose Lin but having Kidd for the next 3 years and a still somewhat youthful Felton who I liked a lot while he was here....it more than suffices. As someone said, our championship aspirations are not made or broken with Jeremy Lin or any point guard really. To think that way would be foolish. This team is just not built that way.

The only thing I can think of is that Melo has some kind of assurances from CP3 that he will be coming to NY. Otherwise, it's unacceptable. We need Lin to have a chance.

Yeah, that's why I'm worried if anyone will trade for him with a poison pill 3rd year. If we could get value from matching and someday trading him that would be great since there's no way we can trade Amare. I don't think we'll be trading Tyson or Melo either. So if we wanted to maintain flexibility Lin would be realistically our only trade able asset. He's a good player but Woodson doesn't utilize him like the scoring and transition PG he is. Woodson's system doesn't match Lin's play in other words.

What?

Lin fanboys kill me.

Melo ain't thinkin' bout Lin, just like Lin ain't thinkin' bout Melo.......

So you're saying that players should never express concern with what the FO is doing with other players? Cause I remember Kobe being pretty vocal when the Lakers traded Odom.

With Lin though?

Look I said we should match, but this is getting out of hand. Lin had 25 good games....that's it.

Guess who else performed well under D'Antoni:
David Lee
Wilson Chandler
Chris Duhon
Toney Douglas
STAT
RAYMOND FELTON
Landry Fields

Think about some of the names on that list for a mininute.
-Chris Duhon was an All-Star caliber PG the first half of his first season with New York
-Do you remember Landry rookie year under Mike?
-How about how Felton played under him?
-Remember two years ago when Tony Douglas had to start for Billups and played really well?
-David Lee was an All-Star under Mike.

Do you see a trend here? Mediocre to even bad players can put up numbers(big ones) with Mike D'Antoni. Everyone knows this. Even before Mike left Linsanity had died, and Lin was nothing special under Woodson. The End.

People around here have very short memories.

Hahn: teammates looked at Lin with a crooked eye last year because of his over-confidence, perceived lack of humility.

I would argue that Lin overachieved. I don't see him finishing at the same level he did and he takes such a beating i'm not sure he's going to consistantly healthy throughout his career.

As far as Felton goes, I think that "fatness" had a lot to do with the lockout. He didn't really know when or if the season was going to start so he couldn't really get into a consistent training regime. At least thats my educated guess

Really? Felton's fatness had to do with the lockout? How come the rest of the league didn't have this problem? It's fine if you think Lin overachieved. A lot of people do think that. I believe Lin can and will improve. That's what I choose to believe. But you lost me with Felton's fatness having to do with the lockout. If most other NBA stars did not have a problem maintaining their weight during the lockout, how come Felton did?

You really don't think that Felton is going to be in shape to start next season?
