What if Lin is starting and the Knicks don't fly out of the gate?

We wouldn't be giving up a fan favorite if we were to retain him.

And how exactly would we get him with no assets??? At least Lin would be an asset to trade.

You're preaching to the choir.

No one in their right mind is going to blame Melo for Lin KG, that is ridiculous.

You can take your anger out on JR and Melo all you want. How this has gone has nothing to do with either. Lin agreeing to force the Knicks to sign the offer sheet or lose him can't be blamed on either.

Y'all should very seriously reconsider your position. Lin leaving will spell the end of Melo's happy tenure in NY. Fans are already suspicious of him. After his comments, and the fact that he didn't beg the Knicks to keep Lin, it is going to be hell for Melo.

Think about it -- I'm ready to hate Melo. I'm a completely positive fan who hopes against hope and believes in the team.

Whether you like it or not, Melo is going to get the blame for Lin, the fans at MSG are going to be SALTY, depressed and looking for an enemy. That enemy will definitely be Melo. He is going to get killed. Booed, harassed and hated. He will be miserable.

You KNOW this is true.

So whether you AGREE with it or not -- this Lin decision is crucial to Melo's success.

Without Lin, Melo's tenure becomes instant misery. They'll boo Felton too. Some Amar'e. But Melo will get the huge amount of blame. He'll be the focal point -- he'll be embarrassed in his hometown.

I promise you.

Ummm where we're you at last year, I'm pretty sure Melo, was booed and hated last year, then your media and fans tried to run him out of NY, only to hop right back on his dick in April.

And you will too, Mark my words, I'm saving this post. You all emotional like a lil girl man up, do some push ups and take them pink panties off. Your embarrassing yourself crying on every page. It's disgusting. Lin is like a son, screw melo, i hate Jr blah blah blah. Man the **** up.

He'll start hearing boo's eventually too then. It just won't be DAY1 immediate like it will be with Melo and Felton. More like game 10, then the whispers of "overpaid" and the boos come out

But Lin played hardball to make all that money, the fans are paying for it. NYK fans don't like bad contracts period.

If Lin was sucking it up, ne would get the blame and then we would turn to Fatty. Melo would be spared. But if they don't sign him and they suck, the stupidity of the fans and the media would have a feeding frenzy all over Melo, JR and Woody and that would just not be pretty.

Maybe, just maybe, you're wrong about Lin's upside.

MD's system? What about McHale's system? He made Dragic look like an All-NBA PG last year. Lin will put up good stats in Houston, and if they lose, nobody will blame Lin. They'll assume he would have been just as good here, and Melo will catch the flack for it. Fans can't boo the GM or owner, but they can boo players.

I'm not sure how successful Lin will be with Houstons current roster but if he becomes an all-star playing in the West with that squad I will tip my hat off to him and the Rockets. Logically I don't see it happening. But then again I'm not emotionally attached to Jeremy Lin.

In fact I'm not sure most people here are emotionally attached to Jeremy Lin. This board has a history of tethering on to any young player whether or not it's warranted. Whether it's Sweetney, Frye, David Lee, Ariza, Balkman, etc, etc. I've seen too much of it. There's a weird hysteria on these boards with these situations.

No he wouldnt. If we keep Lin and he sucks the blame will be put entirely on Melo hogging the ball. It doesnt need to have a basis in reality, its already been decided that is the reason.

Remember how ridiculous it seemed to most people on this board when the consensus among casual fans was that Melo was going to kill linsanity? THe public loves feuds, and the media loves twisting things to make them as dramatic as possible. I guarantee Melo comes out of this looking like the bad guy. And we're not gonna storm out of the gate, cause the first 10 games of the season are when Felton plays his way into shape.

I wonder what this board would look like if Melo was somehow traded. That's when we'll see who the hypocrites are.
