TDK and Joker.

But DKR is better than BB imo.

I agree with this completely.

Heath Ledger/The Joker was the best villain role I've ever seen in a movie.

It's really close but Joker over Bane, but Hardy played his character really well

Maybe because I just saw it recently, but DKR over TDK for me right now

Personally, I go with Joker as a better villain, but DKR as the better movie. **** got real in the last movie...

*spoilers*

Batman finally went up against someone who could beat the living **** out of him, and he literally lost everything. That never happened in the first two movies. Yeah Ras Al Ghul smacked him around a few times and he lost his house, but he was still a billionaire with access to all of his weapons. The one criticism you could make of TDK is that Batman was never really physically challenged, and again, yeah Batman loses someone he cares about, but he still has his money and his mansion.

In the last movie, he gets the crap beaten out of him, he gets imprisoned, he loses control of his city, he loses his weapons, he loses his company, and he loses his home. And keep in mind the psychological impact this has...Bane is basically a bigger, stronger version of Batman. He has the same training, he's overcome a tougher upbringing, and he can beat Batman to a pulp. How much more incompetent can Batman feel?

That's why, as of right now, I think DKR was better...Batman hit rock bottom and came back. He never sunk quite so low in the first two movies.

So I've been studying for two bar exams, that's why I haven't been around lately. Just FYI, taking two exams in three days is absolute suckage.

But I saw The Dark Knight Rises tonight, so I wanted to comment on the discussion.

Tom Hardy proved singlehandedly how legendary Heath Ledger was. Tom Hardy was **** amazing as Bane (except his voice, but that was a directional choice), but yet, Heath Ledger was flat out better as the Joker. The Dark Knight Rises was a great, great, great movie, thoroughly entertaining (except to comic book nerds, who probably were a bit mad at the conflation of Talia Al Ghul's back story with Bane's), but The Dark Knight was legendary. So, while Tom Hardy was great and Bane was amazing, Heath Ledger was legendary. Really, go watch the Dark Knight, Heath Ledger was out of this world good.

Oh, and going back two pages, Gambit beats all.

I still have his mid-90's serious under my bed. Love that ****, especially in his later (early 2000s) serious, where he used the bowling ball to blow up the can of gasoline. Awesome.

Anyone watch The Newsroom? Ran through the 6 episodes the other day. A few flaws and predictable scenes, but I've enjoyed it.

Yup...I thought Bane was good but Heath Ledger took the villain role to a whole new level. The mannerisms, quirks, and sophistication combined with the fact that it seemed that the Joker seemingly turned the result of every move Batman made into a bad one so that in the end, the city hated him.

I loved Bane's voice. It sounded unique and intelligent, like his character is supposed to be. It was just weird because you couldn't see his mouth moving so it sounded narrated.

It was a relief from the usual "look at me I'm a bad guy" deadly/deep voice.

I loved the Bane monologue during his and Batman's fight scene in the sewer. That was awesome.

But to follow up on what JG said:

^Incredible, I don't think there would be a better portrayal of a comic book villain in our lifetime. I'm calling it, that scene were he has the fake Batman as a hostage shown on the news was just spine tingling everything you'd expect out of the Joker perfected

Definitely agree, I must admit I tried to find a way to place Bane ahead of Joker due to Hardy's performance being a REALLY good one, but it just wasn't possible. Heath absolutely nailed that role, there's not enough compliments in the world that can justify Heath's amazing performance

Saw TDKR yesterday. What a way to end a trilogy! Amazing movie. Everyone said how I fealt about Bane and the joker in this thread.

*Spoilers*

I went nuts at the end when detective Blake was introduced to be the future robin. I wonder which one? I'm not much of a comic book guy but hopefully it's nightwing or something.

*spoilers*

@BlueDawn

The first Robin is actually named Dick Grayson, and he ends up eventually doing his own thing as Nightwing. So I'm guessing that's who detective Blake will end up being.

But it doesn't really matter, since the trilogy is over, I think that was more of an aside for the fans.

I was pretty disappointed in TDKR. I know that's not what people want to here but I thought there was a lot of sloppy writing.things that didn't make sense. Nolan has been a fantastic filmmaker and taken the medium very seriously so this move felt out of place compared to the previous to films. Didn't like that change in direction.

Any complaints that people should have stem from the fact that it had to accomplish two things: complete the trilogy and be a stand alone film on it's own. If you look at those two accomplishments on their own, you can see that there were actually two seperate movies in the Dark Knight Rises.

One where Bane is the villain proper, and the battle for Gotham is taking place. And another where plotlines for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are being tied up.
