CTV replayed it.

If you go to ctvolympics.com or nbcolympics.com, they should have all games there to stream online.

That forum is fiesty place filled with too many sharks. It's an unmoderated jungle.

You always have to tread cautiously on that board. Too many low IQ posters and trolls.

Alternatively it could be that Raptors fans are just overhyping Jonas just like we did with previous prospects.

Um... no. The GB is terrible and keeps getting worse every time I visit it. I've noticed a lot of quality posters have disappeared from there and have been replaced with a bunch of trolls. I don't even bother wasting my time with serious posts on there anymore. I just counter-troll.

The over-hyping by people on this board does create a negative reaction amongst other fans (see the A. Davis/Jonas thread).

I think people really need to lower their expectations of Jonas otherwise they will be in for a lot of disappointment. I don't see him playing more than 15-20 minutes per game at the level he is at right now, so fans better not start calling for Casey's head when he's stuck to the end of the bench.

First, we were told that the extra year in Europe would mean he would be ready for the NBA, but now he's being called a project in development. Looks like the expectations are getting lower but still need to drop a little more.

Doesn't have anything to do with Jonas, really. The board has gone to **** since activity spiked over the past year. Click on any thread on the first page and you'll see. Too many trolls.

Everything is fine with J.V. He's getting his lessons and he's getting his "being a young player". Last year suprisingly (only because Petravičius got injured) he got credit from Kemzura and this year Kemzura is not tolerating a single mistake of him in defence, not tolerating a single TO. That's double stabdarts because there were games were Songaila was making mistakes, but he was still in the court. Kemzura is reactionarty coach and always was. 2010 made false impression that kemzura goes with young players, he just had no choise...

BTW, it's the first game were I agree with Kemzura. J.V looked a little bit overexcited (and that's normal) and that didn't let him to fisnish some shots that he usually fisnish and he made few mistakes in defence. Chandler didn't play that much so Kemzura decided to go with Songaila and Jankunas to stop very mobile team of USA. I would probably see +5 minutes for Jonas though, but after that ellbow...

Anyway, this tournament will be very useful for J.V. however you look. His biggest challenge in the 1 NBA season will be to learn rock-solid defence, positioning and ability to avoid PFs while still being a threat for opponents under the baskets...

My biggest concern with Val in the minutes that I have watched is the mental aspect of the game. He looks slow on rotations & sometimes looks like he is kind of just floating out there.

I'm not worried about skill, athleticism, size, etc.

It's the mental aspect of the game that I think will prevent him from getting big minutes this season. The game just seems to fast for him right now & he's over thinking rather than just reacting to situations as needed.

That's something that can only be improved with playing time/ experience.

Good point! He lost a little bit of his natural stance last season. I'm guessing this is due to all "do this and that, and do like that", "iprove here and there". If last summer he just came and played his basketball (Eurobasket), now he has to live up with all the wieght of "improvement". I think all players face this stage while making transition. When he will learn his lessons and will get back to natural/confident stage, he'll be alright. Playing time is exatcly what he needs now. For him it's very hard to play these shorcuts that Kemzura gives him.

Casey will teach defense first which will help with the foul trouble. I dont see Val having to much pressure on O.
Wow is it nice to have some hope with the coaching staff to do things right.
Feels weird. :onfire:

My biggest worry with Val is that he doesn't reach his potential as a post player. He himself said that he loves rolling more. It would suck to have 2 big guys and not one of them posts up regularly.

I think he actually looked better vs Argentina than he his last handful of games (his last few Rytas games and the Olympic qualifying tournament), I haven't learned much at all about Jonas from this Olympics

Expectations were too high to begin with. And going back to Europe for an extra year doesn't really mean **** for development. This was just a typical Colangelo sales pitch.

Your development only begins once you play your first game in the NBA.
