He's raw like a sandpaper sybian. He'll be fine by the time his contract is up.

What Raptor fans need to realize is that Val will be great once he learns how to open the door. Get on the floor. Everybody walk the dinosaur.

He isn't getting a chance to play, simple as that. There are various reasons, if you want to make it more than what it is fine.

That's the thing though, he's not that "raw". He has a lot to learn in terms of playing positional defense, and his offensive game is obviously going to continue to develop, but I wouldn't apply the term "raw" to a big capable of hitting nealy 60%+ of his shots while shooting 85%+ from the FT line. His hands and touch around the basket are too good for him to look like what I would consider raw from a young big.

I can't wait til Casey gets a hold of this kid, he needs a change of scenery in the worst way. The switch to the NBA will be the best thing to happen to him, ala Rubio.

Not good enough.
No need to make it seem more complicated than it is.

DAVIS PLAYED ZERO MIN IN THE GAME AGAINST LIT, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUST.

See how stupid that sounds? He's a young kid so he gets less min.

The problem for Jonas isn't that he's putting up weak numbers/minutes, it's that he doesn't look like a very talented player doing it

4 points and 1 rebound in 8 minutes against the best competition in the world, against NBA superstars. Davis played zero minutes. Simple as that.

Just stay away from anything Jonas related, Mufasa .

Go do something productive, like working on your Meyers Leonard shrine.

Kanter couldn't get much play for Turkey in the World Championships either, but he did 'ok' for his rookie season.

We've already seen what Jonas can do vs. NBA competition when he gets extended PT during Eurobasket last summer.

It's not like he's regressed, it's just a different situation and there are clearly some issues there with the coach. The reliance on small ball line ups doesn't help either.

Yeah, I don't really get that post.

I just don't see why some fans have to hate on some players because their teams passed on them on draft night.

Personally, I consider Valanciunas better than Kanter but that doesn't mean that Kanter sucks. Similarly, Tristan Thompson is a different player than Val and is actually good at what he does. So, I don't see where the need for resentment lies.

And theres nothing necessarily wrong with having a slightly better version of prime Dalembert

Sure beats Tristan Thompson

Be honest, you didn't watch Thompson play at all last season.

How many more years do you need to realize that in Europe basketball is a whole different concept already? How many predictions based on stats about european players to learn they always increase their stats in the NBA?

Basketball in Europe is TEAMWORK. Every player is submitted to the coach interpretation of the team needs, regardless of his talent and status. Valanciunas will do just good in the NBA.

Val will have a rough rookie year. He will be a foul machine and get bullied in the post. give him a few years to adapt to the nba and then re-assess.

He'll also have games where he doesn't foul and his motor + ability to finish around the basket results in a big statline with great efficiency.

And yeah, there will be plenty of reactionary threads as a result.
