Murphy is in the scouting department.

HOWEVER, Gustavo Ayon just leaked that the Magic have hired James Borrego, formerly of the Spurs and currently a N.O. Hornet, as an assistant coach.

Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanCBS
On vacation this week and shocked to hear news that Eastern Michigan's Rob Murphy leaving for Orlando Magic ----- http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... ando-magic

Jonathan Givony ‏@DraftExpress
Sam Presti has Troy Weaver. Rob Hennigan now has Rob Murphy, who replaced Weaver at Syracuse. Similar front office roles perhaps?
Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanCBS
@DraftExpress Guys like Weaver and Murphy are invaluable. Have access to info that Presti and Henningan unable to gain.

ASSISTANT COACH
Following seven seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, James Borrego begins his first season as an assistant coach with the Hornets.

Borrego started as an assistant video coordinator in the summer of 2003, and finished his time in San Antonio as an assistant coach after seven seasons with the Spurs. In those seven seasons, Borrego was a part of two NBA Championship teams (2005, 2007).

If this is all you're going to say than why even bother watching or talking about the NBA anymore?...

I want that Tyreke Evans rumor to be true. The guy has holes in his game, but for what we're rumored to be giving up, that's a cherry deal!

He can easily play PG and would be better than Jameer off the bat. His shot selection is sucky and he can't hit a 3, but those things are fixable. Do it Henny!

no one is bashing harper, we're bashing the trade and pointing out how it could really bite us because of how high the picks may be.

OT, but I know most of us are looking forward to NBA 2K13 and playing with our "NEW" Orlando Magic in it, so we will all, most likely, want to see this.

We have a HUGE #NBA2K13 announcement tomorrow, 8/15 at 11 AM ET (8 AM PT). Please spread the word & help us make it TREND #turnonhypemachine

wait to judge that trade when Harper actually gets playing time which should be this year if we are committing to player development. anyways its all being blown out of proportion because in the NBA you dont find stars in round 2. u find at best role Players and once in a while u find a starter. Harpers got talent but we all knew SVG didnt play the young guys unless he had to.

I'm with you there....give me Tyreke....lol he has holes but we would FINALLY...FINALLY after all this time have someone that can create his own shot lol......oh and in regards to Harper he just didn't have an opportunity....SVG

this is very encouraging. I wonder what info-access makes these guys invaluable? If these opinions & rumors are true, I really like the direction of our FO.

The Borrego hiring is very interesting also.

I have a speculation about next seasons draft, The Magic is rebuilding looking for young players and seeing how the magics young pieces consist of

Centers: Vucevic, Oquinn
Power forwards: Nicholson, Harper
Small fowards: Harkless, Eyenga

You would think they will be looking at SG's and PG's in the draft, well from the mocks i seen Shabazz is about the only sg/pg in the top 10 projected picks, i do know between now and the draft the mocks will change, but like I said speculation if the magic get a top 10 pick do you think they will reach or double up on the positions they already have young players?

I hope we attract FA's in a couple of years like we do coaches now. Seems like we're getting some good hires so far.

never hurts to draft bigs cuz teams are always interested in bigs. sure i could live with bazz in round 1 but i wouldnt be all upset if we drafted a guy like Steven adams to play center for us. btw HARPER is more likely to play SF than PF for us now.
