the point remains though that our backup 'point guard' is going to
be our 4th G, my prediction anyway, and barring injuries, probably
won't see the court all that much. Even less if Beal's handles actually
allow him to play along with Craw where they are both combo guards
and neither is strictly the 1.

But I also won't argue with those who would have liked us to have had
the 2nd 2nd rnd pick and taken Denmon (or someone else maybe) with it.

The real blunder IMO is going to be not using the #32 on Will Barton. Despite standing 6'6", Will Barton has terrific ball handling skills, he is a good passer, and he can also score. He can play PG, SG, or SF. I think he is more NBA-ready than Beal.

Right. Instead they wanted A.J. Price. No need to keep building the core of the team. No need to add young talent. No need to put yourself in a position where someone can surprise you. Instead, just sign A.J. Price.

Oh, and maybe Anthony Tolliver.

This ^was posted before the Webster signing. We essentially put all of our eggs into the bargain-bin FA market.

*46th pick given away
* 32nd pick stashed
* No apparent attempt to bring-in any of the top undrafted players to SL
* No attempt to land top camp-invite candidates who might make the team (to-date) James Anderson is going to the ATL camp for example

I could understand wanting to go with some"vets", but why eliminate the possibility that as PIF put it, "that someone could surprise you"?

I know im going to get a lot of heat for asking this question. Would anyone like to sign Derek Fisher to a contract i know he's washed up but he would be a good mentor and a good locker room for John wall and are young players. He can teach them a lot of things and we can play him in limited min's so playing time wont be an issue.

Fish would never play for Washington unless it was tied to some FO job afterwords.

That and Fish is just awful, not much of an upgrade from what we have in the backup spot IMO.

I like him more of a mentor then player he still can come in end of games to take big shots.

Well now you've got us, I just don't know how to say know to clutch (actually I mean that it's largely unsubstantiated and I don't care). I've heard some pretty dire things about Fisher's defense lately and I don't think the team's lack of competent shooting justifies covering for his deficiencies at this point. Not that he'd give Washington the option, as has been pointed out.

Fish's usefulness on the basketball court ceased sometime in the mid 00s. He's carved out a nice niche as Kobe's caddy in recent years and now as a "veteran mentor". He can't play a lick tho. Might be a nice guy to have in the locker room but if your playing him any meaningful minutes, your probably hurting your team.

TMac, anyone? Charlotte is reportedly kicking the tires, maybe we should too. He seemed healthy last year and would give us a reserve scoring swingman with some size.

Wasn't he the guy who bitched about the lack of playing time? He definitely wouldn't get it in Washington.

With Machado being signed by Houston, they will most certainly release Livingston. I would love to see us make a spot for Livingston, but that ain't Gina happen.

Good read closg.. After reading the BF piece about the "Wizards Mount Rushmore of Sadness", all I can say is;

Must be nice to have Morris Freaking Almond be your franchises biggest disappointment.

He said more about Mo Almond than I did. :)

I think the Wizards should have just brought back both Almond and James Singleton. They should have signed Omer Asik and Ersan Ilyasova instead of making the deal for Okafor and Ariza.

I believe Almond would have eventually hit shots and proven to be a good player for them. I wouldn't be surprised if he finally makes an NBA roster at the age of 28-29. I think Mo was wise to get a contract to play for Red Star. Better to make money and play than to play the waiting game.

Still wouldn't mind seeing you in some front office role.

WojYahooNBA
"Free agent center Earl Barron has agreed to a non-guaranteed training camp deal with the Washington Wizards, league sources told Y! Sports."

Uhhh, didn't see that one coming. My guess is he doesn't make the team. I don't see the point in having him on our roster, other than injury insurance. And I'd rather just keep that 15th spot open, and in the event that we get bit by the injury bug down low, then at that point we can sign Barron or another scrub big man to fill in.

Barron could be roster-filler, if a practice body was needed for the same purpose, why-not bring back Hamady N Diaye?
