Yea i figured Foye would definitely be gone by 281 so took my chances on Mahimini dropping because I have like 5 other players who can replicate what he does still available

Head Coach: Stan Van Gundy
PG: Ricky Rubio/ George Hill/Foye
SG: Nick Young / Lou Williams/Foye
SF: Andrei Kirilenko/Corey Maggette
PF: Carlo Boozer/ Thaddeus Young
C : Chris Kaman/Brendan Haywood
Overall I think this team was poorly built. Not sure what the team is going for here. Can they compete for a title? Most likely no. The team lacks shooting, defense in 4 out of 5 starting positions, a true point guard for half the season, big men who can play big minutes without having recent injury history and a whole bunch of players that need the ball in their hands.
Without Rubio can Lou Williams carry this team as the point guard? I love Lou and this he is a perfect backup scorer, but I do not feel that is the best role for him. I think he's more of a 6'1" combo guard. You coupled that on the bench with a 6'2" SG in George Hill and a 6'3" CG in Randy Foye.
Also in the starting rotation who can shoot the 3? Is Nick Young supposed to be the only real dangerous outside threat? Rubio can do it a bit but he is just okay at it. most teams will crowd the paint and double team your post men (the only way I see offense coming from this team). Bench-wise you got some players that can score, but again lack the amount of shooters that will help spread the court. I can't see 2 of Lou Williams, George Hill, Randy Foye playing on the court together for defensive and lack of point guard purposes. Those are some of your best three point shooters and you can't really play them together to spread the court.
Big men wise, all of your true PF/C have a bad injury history and none of them has played 30 or over minutes a night last year. I feel that is a very combustible position to put yourself in. I love Thaddeus Young and his ability but he is not a good fit for your team. He fits the Stan Van system, but he seems like a duplicate of what your front court looks like. Bad shooting from long range, best work comes inside.
If you want my advice, I'd move Kirilenko for more of a Batum type player. Someone who can shoot from long range and play some defense. I'd get another big man to have as insurance and get a true backup point guard. I think your team has some pieces that can make you a good team, but mostly I see bad fits and its lacking the talent to be a true contender. Why pick Rubio who wont play for half the season and then commence to pick up a team that is supposed to win now? Also since you don't really have a now-superstar on your team, if I was you I wouldve built for the future. Rubio is a tremendous future piece.

Re: BAT 8.0 TRADE DISCUSSION (DRAFT IN OTHER THREAD) PART II
Rubio will be back long before halfway through the season. They were saying he might be back for the opener but that isnt looking likely. He wont miss major time this season. Rubio and Kirilenko are both great defenders and Kaman is very under rated post defender and rebounder. Nick young also an adequate/good defender. The only poor defender on my team is lou boozer and you could argue foye also. George Hill took over as PG for Indiana this season and has demonstrated the ability to run an offense. He isnt going to set guys up like Rubio but he isnt a selfish or shoot firstplayer, and he is also capable of guarding most shooting guards. The only player who needs the ball in their hands is rubio and Lou williams. Kirilenko is a slasher young a spot up shooter and boozer a pick and roll player. Foye likely wont play at all or the last player im drafting. I wouldnt want any of my PF/C to play over 30 mins a game minimizing injury risks which seem to always be grossly over stated. Boozer and Kaman would get about 28 mpg and the rest of the minutes split up among Young, Haywood, and pick 281. Kirilenko isnt a great shooter but he isnt as bad as you seem to think either he shot 37% last season, and seems to fluctuate between very good and terrible 3 pt shooting seasons. Rubio also shot 34% from 3 which isnt terrible and will be improved upon.

You can never really say that he will be back before then until he is back. A torn ACL is a tough one to come back from and when he comes back what type of shape will he be in? Rubio is an adequate defender. I would in no way call him great, especially after he comes back from injury next year. Kaman is another adequate defender but he doesnt give you much help defense. Nick Young is straight up a bad defender. That was a 9 game sample. You can't judge players on 9 games. He is mostly an undersized backup SG type. Rubio, Lou, Nick, Corey, Kaman are all better with the ball in their hands. Lou, Corey and Kaman cant play without it in their hands. Over the last 3 out of 4 years Kaman has played less then 30 minutes. Each of those years he has missed games. 2 of those years he has missed a ton of games. Injuries happen and some are more injury prone. What happens if Kaman is out? Haywood can't handle big minutes anymore.

Hill demonstarted that ability coming off the bench as wel and in San Antonio. He can guard SGs but he is a PG now. Young is awful with the ball in his hands and is a solid defender not sure how much youve seen of him. Young pretty much only takes spot up jumpers because his handle is so bad. He cant dominate the ball not because hes unselfish but because he physically isnt capable. I also disagree on magette. In his prime he was a ball dominant player who put up a lot of points. But coming off the bench he will just be doing what kirilenko does. Check the best swingman on the floor and slash looking for an easy shot. Kaman has had injury issues and like i said pick 281 will be further insurance in that case. Kaman isnt a good help defender but blocked 1.6 shots a game in just about 30 minutes. Id say hes decent in that respect too. Kaman also isnt a ball dominant player. People seem to think he is a post up player but that hasnt been his game for a long time. These days hes a pick and roll 15 foot jumper or put back type of player

Its an interesting mix for sure. I don't see one plan here. You are going for a win now team which is apparent by Noah, Terry, Jackson and Gooden, but you're also going for win future team (Lin, Mayo, Batum, Griffin). I think the win future guys could be good pieces to a championship squad but you need a star type player who can take over.
Lin is a nice young point guard, but he definitely has his flaws. Defense being one of them. In fact only 2 of your players are better then adequate on defense (Noah and Batum). The offense Im guessing will be run by Lin, but Lin hasn't displayed the durability to play a full season nor to play big minutes and stay healthy. Not sure what you are thinking about on backup PG, but the options are dwindling.
I like that you have multiple scoring options. I don't think scoring will be a major hassle against most teams with Lin and Griffin pick and roll and the shooters in Mayo and Batum. The only way I see your team being stopped is by an athletic big man who has the range and ability to keep up with Griffin, plus the guards to defend Lin and Mayo. I like Terry coming off the bench, he's a good combo guard and can play very good in a sixth man role. Gooden is a pretty good rebounder and a good piece also. I hate Jackson, but that may be just me. I feel like he is a cancer for most teams, who don't have a GREAT coach.
Overall a pretty good squad. With every championship team I look at, do they have a superstar in their near prime who can score against anyone. I don't see it here. Good team nevertheless.

Young is a guy who takes a dribble or two and takes a bad shot, or holds the ball looks at basket and takes a bad shot. See a pattern? I've seen quite a bit of him in Washington. I've seen him on the Bobcats and he was doing some of what you are saying, but not nearly at the amount you are saying. He is still mostly a guy who gets ball and charges the basket. I haven't seen Kaman that much. You may be right in his offense now.

Yeah I was talking about Nick Young, then Corey Maggette. Should've worded it better, but I responded in the same order he talked about it.

Well, for starters, I wasn't blessed with a top 10 pick, so how was I supposed to land a Superstar?
Also, this build a team is graded on best offense, defense, win now, and future. In order to win the build a team you need a solid mix of every ingredient, and that's what I tried doing with this roster.
Yes, I have a LOT of faith in Lin. I was always one of the biggest Lin supporters, and still have no idea why we let this franchise changing player go. People tend to show stats when Woodson took over... When Woodson took over we were UP BY DOUBLE DIGITS so we didn't need Lin to play. He sat out most 4th quarters, and we also had a great backup in B-Diddy.
You say I don't have a backup Point Guard, well, I plan on using a 3 guard rotation with Lin, Mayo, and Terry all accumulating around 32 MPG each. Mayo and Terry have both shown the ability to run the point in a limited basis. Stephan Jackson also can be a playmaker for me, and run some of the offense off the bench.
You also seem to call out someone of my teams D? Well Joakim Noah is an ELITE defender. Nicholas Batum is a great defender. OJ Mayo is a really good defender as well, and S-Jax is tough as nails still. Lin tries really hard on D, and is average at worst. Gooden and Terry are nothing special defensively I'll give you that, but my team rebounding is insane.
I don't really need a pure superstar when I have so many scoring options. Lin to Blake pickNroll, Lin to Blake Alley Oops, OJ Mayo and Terry both have jumpers, Lin can get to the line and drive and dish out to a Batum. I really like this roster. If I build an all youth squad, I would've been demolished come playoff time, and I'd eventually have to pay them all. I don't have a single player on their rookie contract, yet 4/5ths of my starting lineup is 24 and under. Noah - 27.
