Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

There are so many great players all over the world, its so difficult for me to make a top 10 list.

Yes, this is difficult once you get past Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi. I would hope Falcao makes it somewhere on the list though.

those 4 and then you have ibra, iker and rooney. Thats 7.
Then its all opinion and current form.

You have Kun, Silva, Persie, Eto'o, Robben, Kroos, Schweini, T. Silva, Cazorla, Cavani, Falcao, Yaya, Hazard, Ozil, Alonso, Neymar...

Hard to post a Top 10, if soccer is played with 11... ;) However, my shot at this...

Tier 1: Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta
Tier 2: Xavi, Casillas, Rooney

But then? Guys like van Persie, Özil, Zlatan, Falcao, Silva, Schweinsteiger etc etc fight for the remaining spots. Heck, I could even include Drogba, Pirlo or Buffon w/o getting too much flak.

Ozil has struggled thus far but he has to be in there.

The talent depth so close nowadays, either because bigger globalization in football, or there are so many (young) inconsistent stars. Ozil, Higuain, Benzema, Giovinco, Hazard, Balotelli, Veratti etc have talent to be up there, but hard to rely on them in consistent basis. IMO

Hazard's hardly inconsistent. Twice the Ligue 1 player of the year and has looked good in every match for us.

Anyway I'll take a stab at it

Messi
Ronaldo
Iniesta
Falcao
Van Persie
Yaya Toure
Xavi
Pirlo
Zlatan

I'd take Ozil over Neymar but that's as solid a list as you can get

Good list 5DOM. It is hard to make to argue with most of the names on the lists provided here, but my only complaint would be Rooney. At least based on the fact that his own manager complains about his lack of shape.

My only complain is no defensive players other than Yaya :D. Someone like Buffon or Casillas should be there.

I really don't get why Pirlo (at his age), Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Neymar and Zlatan are being rated over Rooney. I mean, the guy hasn't had the best start to the season but he was like 3 goals short of golden boot in the EPL last season and was the best player on a league winning/champions league final team a year ago.

Short memories I guess.

I think Zlatan is quite clearly better than Rooney right now. Rooney's been inconsistent and not as good as his goal tally suggests - sizeable portion of his goals were from the penalty spot IIRC and he had some of the best wingers in the country providing service. Injuries didn't help, but it also would have been better if he was any good for England in the tournaments. He was genuinely world class 2-3 seasons ago though. Probably the 3rd best player then. Btw I think Vidic was easily the best player for United that season. Rooney wasn't very good that season.

Valencia had the best season for United last year imho. Rooney is a stud, but top 10 in the world? I dunno, that's tough.

Rooney also played more than a month in midfield until Scholes returned from retirement. He had that transfer request fiasco in 2011 but once he returned to the squad he racked up around 11 assists in half a season and was brilliant in the run in and in the champions league, scored in the final.

He does a lot of things that just go unnoticed and quite judging any English player by the national team's performance is very unjust imo.

Zlatan on the other hand has shrunk in every big game he ever played. Inter won the CL the year he left, Barca lost the CL the year he arrived and again won when he left, that kind of results surely should take a lot out of Zlatan's legacy as a player.

Honestly, I love Zlatan and think he's a phenomenal player.

But really, he's the Carmelo Anthony of soccer. The poster above pretty much nailed why.
