Zeller IMO will be one of the top centers in the NBA. I mean right now when you think center the only 2 that ppl ever think of are Dwight & Bynum. If Zeller adds muscle & gets outta that Brook Lopez mode of not being the most physical big man he really could become great.

Im just going off how Henny drafted this past draft & you have a guy like PJ3 on the board who is a "flashy" name & he goes with the guy from St. Bonaventure because he has more "skill" & "bball IQ". If Henny has a big man in mind this year....Zeller has WAYYYYY more "skill" & "bball IQ" compared to a guy like Noel who as of right now is ALLLLL "flash"

you either have that or you don't, if Zeller doesn't have it now, he never will

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

That draft has us picking at 19. We better not be that good?

I was looking up some scouting reports & watching some film on this kid Malik Newman & he looks like somebody who could be a problem in the future with his scoring ability. You would never think this kid was a freshman last season.

Lebron averaged 21 points per game as a freshman....Malik averaged 23. (NO Im not saying he will ever be as good as Lebron haha but still impressive as hell)

Some reports on him:

Strengths:
Malik Newman is a great athlete who can score at will. He has a great first step and can get anywhere on the floor he chooses. He loves to get out on the break and attack the rim where he has the uncanny ability to finish through contact. He has a great double move off the bounce and a beautiful pull up jumper. He is one of the top three-point shooters in the class. At the pace he is on, he has all the makings of becoming a professional.

With Malik, scoring is the name of the game. He has that knack for putting the ball in the basket. His mid-range game is terrific and he can shoot jumpers out to 20 feet. He can create his chances off the dribble and is just wired to score. Not afraid to stick his nose in and rebound, either.

Weaknesses:
Must learn how to play without the ball in his hands more often. He also needs to improve his on-ball defense.

He would do well to improve his decision making and other lead guard skills, including creating for others. He does seem to possess a good basketball IQ. Defensively, the effort and intensity is just not there yet. He's a good, not great, athlete.

He is already 6 foot 3 so if he does continue to grow that will def benefit him as a SG, but he still has plenty of time to work on his PG skills if he is done growing. I expect him to receive some major hype in the upcoming seasons.

Yea I know he is class of freaking 2015, but JUST WATCH the tape haha....

Horatio Webster (His father who played at Mississippi State) doesn’t need to wake Malik Newman for school in the morning, because he knows his son is already there. While kids his age all over the country cling desperately to those final hours of sleep, in fearful anticipation of that wretched shriek from their alarm clocks, Malik Newman has long since left his house. Before school starts each day, he’s in the Callaway High School gym in Jackson, MS, putting up shot, after shot, after shot.

He’d be alone there too, if not for a ball, a hoop, a dream and overwhelming work ethic specifically uncommon among his peers.

In Malik Newman’s first ever high school game this season, he went 10-19 from the floor, hitting 5 three-pointers, and finishing with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a 3-point win over Marshall High School from Lexington, MS. He’d finish the season averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 steals per game for his Callaway High Chargers too, and they’d go 24-6 in the process. Newman’s squad won the Mississippi 5A State Championship as well earlier this month, and last week he was the first ever freshman in Mississippi state history to be named First-Team All-State.

Coach Wayne Brent’s first year as head coach at Callaway High was Monta Ellis’ senior season at Lanier High School, also in Jackson, MS, five miles away from Callaway. When asked which NBA players would be a fair comparison to Malik’s game, the first person Coach Brent mentioned was Ellis.

“The guy around here that I would relate Malik’s game is too is Monta Ellis,” Brent said. “Monta is about 6-2 or 6-3, and Malik is about 6-3, so Malik is probably a little bit bigger at this point. But when Monta came in, he scored a lot of points too, and his ninth grade year he averaged around 21. Malik just averaged 23 this season.

“On a scale outside of Mississippi, I worked at the ABCD Camp when the kid OJ Mayo played there, and OJ’s game was very, very similar to Malik’s too. Mayo could score; he wasn’t really a PG, though he could run the point as more of a combo guard. He could really shoot the basketball as well, and handle the basketball too, so I would say OJ Mayo and Monta Ellis are good comparisons.”

How tall the 15-year-old Newman ends up growing remains to be seen, but according to Webster, he expects his son to be about as tall he is.

“The doctors said he’ll get to 6-7 or 6-8, and that his growth plate is currently wide open. Right now, he’s wearing a size 14 shoe, I stopped at a 13, and he’s in a 14 already,” Webster noted. “If he’s 6-7, I think he can play the 1 through 4 in college. He’s posting up right now at 6-3.”

At 2 a.m. on many nights this summer, Leslie could be found at NC State's practice gym playing one-on-one with Washington Wizards guard John Wall, Leslie's friend and former high school teammate. During those contests, Leslie thought it would be unfair to post up the smaller Wall, so Leslie worked on other aspects of his game, like driving to the basket or his pull-up jumper.

Leslie claims that he won more often than he lost. Afterward, sometimes the two would reminisce. "I used to go stay at his house and he used to come stay at my house," Leslie says. "Man, for him to go and to take his family out of that place and put them somewhere nice ... that's my dream."

Leslie's ceiling may be as high as any player in college basketball. He is one of the few players in the country athletic enough to post up one possession and run the fast break the next, a little bit of Garnett and Hardaway.

"C.J.'s quickness is tremendous for his size," Early says. "He's able to make plays against guys who may be a little taller or a little stronger because he can go up and around those guys with ease. C.J. has the ability to be the ACC Player of the Year."

"The telltale sign for Calvin is how good a leader he can become," Gottfried says. "This team responds to him. Does he accept that? How does he handle that? He needs to understand that they follow his lead."

"A lot of us have challenged C.J. to improve himself and he has responded so far," Yow says. "So we are very optimistic about what he can do this season."

Right now my top 5
1. Shabazz
2. James McAdoo
3. Cody Zeller
4. Rudy Gobert
5. Nerlens Noel

My hopes are Harrow proves legit and challenges top 5, After watching the videos posted here on Noel it is very apparent he is immature and has very little offensive ability right now, but hoping a year at UK will change things. Zeller's talent is undeniable, believe or not he is a good athlete dont think he's a bust just because he's white

He is actually a 3/4. Im not real high on him going into the season, but if he improves his jump shot he should be a lottery pick.

His defense is about as good as it gets & even if his offense doesnt come all the way around his D/Athleticism will keep him in the league.

His comparison on NBADRAFTnet is Kenyon Martin, but I think he is more a bigger version of Tony Allen (w/more athleticism). Read he worked a lot on his post game & jump shot this off season so def gonna keep my eye on him.

Noonskadoodle, thanks for posting all this stuff. I try to keep up with as many prospect as possible and what you do makes it easier. I don't like forming opinions based on highlight videos but at least it gives us a quick look and a name to lookup and dig deeper when we have time.

No problem. I love looking up college/high school prospects & when I saw this thread my eyes lit up.

I know highlight videos are farrrr from the truth. Hell Scalabrine looks good in highlight videos. Thats why I tried putting a couple FULL GAME videos in there as well.

I will def keep this thread updated once college bball rolls around. :D

Purvis for NC State has been cleared :D (THANK YOU LORD)

Ledo unfortunately was ruled OUT for the season. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the ... ncaab.html

& I believe all 3 of the UCLA top freshman are still under investigation. (Including Shabazz)
