Agree with the above. I was good with Barnes or Robinson. After reading more into Waiters I went into his selection with an open mind. B Scott apparently hand selected him........so I will side with Byron on this one for right now

I can't believe that Scott would do that. Scott knows what is idea by position. This has Grant's stupidity written all over it. I would believe that Scott was involved in the Zeller selection. He probably was so pissed about the Waiters pick he came unglued and said I'm taking over dumbasses. You all suck! Hope Grant never is allowed to show up on draft night again.

What a bio for Grant:

A 1994 graduate of University of San Diego, with a degree in psychology. Played for Cavaliers assistant coach Hank Egan, and played with former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown. Earned a master's degree in educational leadership from USD.

Psychology degree, Played with Mike Brown and has a Educational Leadeship Degree.... DAMN!

I think he should be elected to the Cleveland School Board. That's about the only position he couldn't screw up more and is more qualified to do.

You should work for Fox News the way you cherry picked that information.

Grant was hired by the Atlanta Hawks immediately following graduate school.[3] He worked there for 9 years, holding several different positions and moved up the ranks, culminating with being named vice president of basketball operations and assistant general manager in 2004.[4] In 2005, he was hired by Danny Ferry to work for the Cleveland Cavaliers.[1] After Ferry's resignation, he was named the new general manager on June 4, 2010.[1]

Grants drafting is full of question marks, but you really need to relax. Stop raging, and stop this nonsense..also you're info on grant is false lol. And some people wonder why cavalier fans have a negative stigma.

Being a blind homer that can't admit when a mistake is a mistake is also a reason for the negative stigma

So let me get this straight, you call me a homer because I simply stated how ignorant, and short sighted kiwi so called opinion is? Let me tell you and any one else on this site, I'm not a homer but at the same time I will not act like I know what is going on in this wwe like sport. You can continue and act like a child that did not get what he/she wants. Shaking my head, everytime someone says anything positive regarding any situation on this site, they are ridiculed and called a homer. no go in cry somewhere else

By the way, when that rookie doesn't improve throughout the year, then maybe will be considered it a mistake. But by you're logic, if he doesn't play well he is a scrub..heh rookies not allowed to f*** up in their first year. Deuces. Realgm>>>our front office

I hated the pick on draft night, and now that I have seen Waiters play a couple of games, I hate it even more. WTF were the Cavs thinking? I am just not seeing a single thing that made them value Waiters over consensus top picks like Barnes or Drummond. The rest of you can lie to yourselfs all you want and keep hoping for the best, but I am not going to hold my breath for a short chubby combo guard with an inconsistent jump shot :-?

+1000000000

How many times can a guy pass on obvious picks (Jonas 2011) (Barnes/Drummond 2012) for players that NO ONE had going in the top 5 before the draft? Grant's " I am smarter than the rest of the basketball world and am going to get these great talents that no one notices with my top 5 pick year after year" mentality is beyond pathetic at this point.

Really? Name the last good shooting guard this franchise has had.

the problem is that Waiters is not big enough to be a SG, he is a combo guard. This is what drove me crazy on draft night, why the hell would we draft a combo guard with a top 5 pick? the league is filled with plenty of combo guards. Like I said, I can't really see waiters turning into anything more than Delonte West.

As for drummond, if you go back to the draft thread, you could see how high I was on the guy and had him as my pick at #4. I really would have loved to have an Irving/Drummond core.

Irving and Drummond would be unstoppable in a few years. Possibly best at the respective position

I mean how do you workout almost every player in the projected top 5-8, yet on draft night you draft a player that didn't even workout for you? did Grant just go watch Dion Waiters mixtapes on youtube and make his choice of that? What a fkin moron.

On the contrary I'm a huge fan of Irving and a T.O native so I have some love for Thompson. At the end of the day were all fans of basketball. I basically like all rebuilding teams. Detroit, Cavs, warriors and wolves. They all have players worth looking out for. Anways back to waiters, he had himself a good game. Finally shot the ball well and it opened up for others. Still don't think Kyrie and waiters can co-exist due to both being pgs imo and ball dominant. Can waiters guard NBA 2s?
