Looking at the BOS game tonight though I kinda wish we really pursued Courtney Lee hard, he looks good on both sides of the court!

How did Blatche look? His line, 9 RB, 2 BS, 4-8 FGs in 18 mp looks like the kind of line I always wished he would end up offering here. Of course, the Nets lost by 30, but you can't have everything.

I didn't see it, so can't comment -- but 9 rebounds in 18 minutes is great work.

I caught the end of the 6ers/Nets game and watched Nick Young hit 2 ridiculous shots in the 4th quarter. Defensively, they shut down the Nets when it mattered.

I hate how cheaply Golden State was able to acquire Jarrett Jack. He could have had him.
GSW got him basically for cap space. He would have been a much more sensible inclusion in the Lewis trade than Ariza.

I would so much rather have him than Crawford, Price and Mack. While his $5M isn't cheap, he just has the one final year left on his deal.

I think it was just a case of murphy's law with regard to timing. Ariza clogged up the 3 but that was before we acquired Webster. Jack would have been good for the team now but wall was still healthy when we made the deal, so 5 mil would have been a bitter pill to swallow for a 15-18 mpg backup. Hindsight being what it is though, we could definitely use Jack instead of the hodgepodge of d-league dreck we're currently working with.

See, that;s the thing. Jack is so much better than all our guards save Wall and Beal that he would have made sense regardless.

Look at GSW: they have Curry, Klay Thomspon, brandon Rush and Charles Jenkins and they still went and got Jack.

Considering the number of people that were calling for the acquisition of a veteran 3G/combo guard type, someone that could hit shots off the bench, act as a change of pace PG, and fill in if Wall was injured, I don't think it's hindsight.

Golden State went after Jack as a possible starter since none of those guys are point guards (curry is the closest and even then not really). We had Wall and Mack as well as the "combo" Crawford which on paper makes backup pg less pressing. I'm just saying it looks like a better deal now than it would have been 3 months ago. It wouldn't have been a terrible trade 3 months ago, but it certainly would have raised a few eyebrows around here.

Also, the 3rd guard that we're looking for... at least for me was for a combo-guard or 2 guard so we can curb Crawford's minutes. Whatever the 2012 equivalent of an Antonio Daniels or Randy Foye was... Or just a flat out legit 2-guard that many such as (if iirc) Nate, me, and others were adamant about - Courtney Lee.

Yeah, I don't really recall seeing Jack playing off the ball, have no idea how he'd look playing next to Wall, other than it would be a shorter backcourt.

Jack isn't ideal but he does have a short history of at least sharing PG duties successfully in Indiana with TJ Ford for the 08-09 season (they even started some games together at both guard spots), and Ford is actually a somewhat comparable player to Wall only smaller. He struggled to run a 2-PG set with Jose Calderon in Toronto but Jose has never been able to run a 2-PG set with anybody, really, despite the numerous times the Raptors have tried. Not sure Jack behind Wall would have been the best option, but it wouldn't have been a terrible one, either. I think it could have worked, particularly if Denver can run with Lawson and Miller.

Considering Nene's health, I'd sign Curry on a non-guaranteed vet minimum deal. Curry played decently.

Over Eddy Curry, sure. But Brown doesn't rebound, and he doesn't do anything else well enough at the 4 to warrant minutes other than on the Bobcats, where he might wind up returning.

Derrick Brown actually did a decent job as a 3 last season for the Cats.

I agree about Derrick Brown. I remember liking his game when he was Xavier, as a teammate of Jordan Crawford's. Derrick Brown is a real good defender.
