Ilyasova is a effort player with no go to move who can hit an open shot or two and rebound a little. He is not a game changer like Jennings is and does not come through in the clutch.
He is mediocore on any other team and we should have moved him to Brooklyn when we had the chance for that lottery pick they got for Gerald Wallace if the Bucks were smart. Jeremy Lamb might be here with Henson or Drummond instead....

Ersan was getting 17 and 11 per 36 minutes last year on good efficiency. IIRC he was the 1st player to average 13 and 8 in less than 30 MPG since Arvydas Sabonis. That's pretty good company. Jennings has too many flaws right now to be considered as positive as Ilyasova was last year. I just hope Illy can keep it up.

* While Jennings was willing to discuss his contract status, his backcourt teammate, Monta Ellis, wasn’t as receptive.

Ellis, who will be paid $11 million this season, has an opt-out clause in contract after this season. By all indications, talks to extend his contract aren’t encouraging.

Ellis certainly gave that impression after meeting with reporters following Tuesday’s practice. When I queried Ellis about his contract, he responded “I don’t want to talk about that.’’ He then walked away.

Please trade this dude ASAP.

I don't know if it makes me respect him more or less that he didn't even take the time to feed us the usual fake PC garbage. I mean most guys tell us how they love the city, the fans, the team...and how they hope to be able to be part of the special things that are starting to happen here. Of course they'd then remind us it's a business and how they need to take care of their families so we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out.

Glad to hear the Bucks don't seem so interested in giving Ellis an extension.

If we were, and Ellis was the one pushing back, then he would probably have used Woelfel to feed that line to the media to up his perceived value around the league.

i appreciate the way monta is handling this. if he was acting like jackson is where wed have a problem.

bottom line is if monta walks at the end of the season and takes less than our fair offer somewhere else than it will be a mistake that we didnt trade him now for value. hopefiully our front office is getting a sense about how he feels for the city so we can make that call.

thats really the only way this can backfire besides a new deal where he then lays down ala salmons... and thats always a risk, especially here.

I can't really envision any scenario where I'd be for an Ellis extension. He's not going to age well. I'd probably feel differently if he was a great shooter, hell even a good shooter, but he isn't.

Yeah...some team right now will give us some halfway useable asset for Monta. We need to get this done this week.

The hard part is determining what Monta's perceived value is throughout the league. We gave up a talented, yet injury-prone starting center (who was injured at the time of trade) for he and Udoh. That cannot speak highly for his value, IMO.

If we can get a guy like Wes Matthews/1st rd pick for him, I'd say that would be the ceiling of Monta's value. Thoughts?
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

The problem is I'm actually believing the Bucks rhetoric about Monta/Jennings being a duo they'd like to have long term. They're delusional, but I think sincere in what they say there. Troubles me beyond belief.

Portland's pick is going to Charlotte (top 12 protected), but I don't think any rebuilding teams will be interested in trading assets for Ellis, especially with the player option to opt out.

I think he's a "proven scorer" final piece to a contender type trade, which is the problem for us in terms of getting good draft picks.

The chances of this ending poorly are extremely high. The smart money is on us keeping him to try and make the playoffs and then him opting out.

One deal I could see, if it looked like Memphis was a playoff team, and Roy wasn't working out well for Minny, is Roy/Ridnour/Memphis 2013 1st (top 14 protected) for Ellis. Roy and Ridnour both expire in 2013-14. That doesn't even really excite me, but we're not going to have much leverage during a trade because of the impending opt out.

he makes jennings better because he can help with the ballhandling and distribution roles on this team. it frees jennings up for his strengths and helps cover his weaknesses.

i want to see how this plays out. so far weve played well when our frontcourt has played well, and weve sucked when they havent. the guards for me arent the issue.

Monta is the best offensive player we've had since 2007 Michael Redd. I'll enjoy watching him get buckets for however long he's in a Bucks jersey.

I believe they are a major issue as currently constructed.

2011-12 Jennings was definitely better than 2011-12 Ellis.

Much rather have Turner than Afflalo. Ridnour and Wright are both irrelevant filler.
